Tap rear door speakers? What do you mean? Do I need to buy anything other then the amp kit.

Just stop this idea right now if you don't understand what he just said. You're only going to create a mess for yourself. Turn the bass up if you want more bump.

I didn't want to have to install a converter.

u have no choice unless you get a new headunit with a sub out. the factory units typically can only support front/rear speaker operation and you cant add a sub/amp without stealing from one of those for single. your choices are simple, get a new headunit and redo everything. tap the rear speakers and be done. or, pay a shop an ungodly amount to do what i just said.

Couldn't you use the signal going to the factory 12" sub to feed the low level input of the new amp?

Yes. The sub has the amp integrated into it so the signal is already low level. No need for a converter.

Kingoflacs, with your subs/box facing rearward, does it cause a lot of rattles on the trunk lid and license plate? Did you remove the factory 12" to allow more sound to come into the interior?

    Re: Aftermarket sub/amp install.

u can add whatever youd like to it. just be willing to do the work. the factory bose systems are 8ohm making them incompatiable with other options on the market. if you want to start getting into new speakers, your better off running a new system. front to back, replace it all. that said, all things are possible and adding a few tweeters for better treble can be accomplished its just a pain and the end result probably wont satisify you much.
