If it were < $2000, then I would definitely say yes. More than that, and I would probably pass. Especially if I needed to rework the whole exhaust.
My 2006 is already over 6 years old, and while I love driving it, I don't see the upside to pumping several K into it with little hope of seeing it returned when I feel the need to sell it. IF the car were brand new and I knew I would be keeping it 8 to 10 years, that would be fine. But I am probably closer to the end of this car than the beginning, so ... So price matters.

I was told headers wouldn't really help with our cars but I could have been misinformed.

headers will help, but whoever told you they would not is prolly bc of the heads themselves. the heads are restrictive and if you upgrade those, you will see big gains from what ive been told. however, its hard enough getting anything else, i dont wanna think about how hard heads would be. any upgrade will help, just depends on how much and in what ways.

how are we lookin on this 550? any closer?

They would be around 2k - and I dont think we have enough people on board to make it happen.

I'm in for 2K. How many people do we need at 2K per person?

    BTW. thanks for handling this.

We need 10 people at 2k each to get them made and designed. I think we realistically have 5 people on board.

I do not undersstand why headers for cts-v cost around 900 and headers that fit the sts-v are two to three times more money? D3 sells a set of long tube headers on ebay that fit an XLR for 1500. I called them and they said the steering linkage is not the same on a sts-v so the left header would have to be modified. I know a chevy head and a northstar head are not the same but once you make the flange for the northstar head the headers can not be three times the cost to make.

    Thank you anyway 550HP STSV....
I could justify $3,500 for my set but not $10,000 to get 5 peoples worth. Too bad, headers are a great mod.... Thank you again for trying.

To: bkingdole: a lot of R&D and cost needs to be recovered for such a small market. Really, it seems like only 5 guys seem real, and our car is discontinued, so who would invest in a product like that? Many years ago, I was the guinea pig on the first set of Impala SS headers and it was quite a process to get horsepower gains, fit , and finish. It got even harder when we decided that we did not want to allow the header exhaust heat to cook the PCM, wiring, steering, or suspension components.

Re: Stainless Works will make us headers if we can get ten people on board.

Correct. Its the same reason why mustang headers cost $250. They have done the R&D, found the gains, and sold hundreds of sets to recover their costs.

The STS-V is ended, and with so few of us we basically are paying for the R&D outself, and theres a very good chance no more will be sold. It looks like the stainless works deal is out.

However, I have good news. I may have a line on someone that is in the process of making headers for our car for MUCH LESS. Stay tuned.

i can tell you that even at 10k it isnt completely ludacris for headers, my good friend just got his benz back from renntech and his were 8k, excluding the high flow cats and install, and thats for a car that has options for it. i wouldnt be able to pay that much for awhile, but im in for sure, just let me know what the details are. thanks for looking out 550!!

I would be highly interested in headers.

They would need to be bolt on however, No hammers or cutting tools required.
