    Carbon fiber hood.....

    Sooo after having a cracked hood and looking into buying one ive come to decide in having a carbon fiber one made....stock shape, anyone think i should bother with it or just buy oem n bolt up?

    Why have a custom one made to stock shape. Dont see the cost, time or custom value. I would put the cost to some of 550's or pg2a's stuff !

    well what do they have....im doing all motor work right now before i get into body and paint but have been wondering on the hood since its cracked and stock figure reason being it looks great as is and since noone really makes any aftermarket parts i figure making a stock shaped carbon fiber hood, i feel itll look sick with the carbon fiber thats all but what do u guys think? im all ears man my relationship with my V just began.......

    I had some carbon fiber hoods made for my other car that had a stock fiberglass hood. The CF hood with all the bracing as the stock hood weighed 5 lbs less than the stock fiberglass hood. The full race hood I had made which was just a shell and you had to pin down on all four corners weighed 10lbs. The only downside to CF hoods that the hood will eventually discolor from the sunlight (UV) unless you coat the hood with paint that GM uses that cost $60k per gallon.
