    Re: Best exhaust option

I want to see of borla will at least send me 4 inch tips separately. They won't make it with 4 inch tips. I asked. The thing is they use high quality steel and the tips are rolled so id like the 4 inch tips to be of the same high quality as the 5.

    ----------

And I'm going to pull the trigger as soon as I have a resolution on the tip thing.

Looks much different from the back with quad tips, sure would take some time to get used to.
Too bad though. I wonder if ITSQUIK would do it ... he put the CTS-V2 coupe exhaust on his though so he'd probably not go for this.

Yeah but he didn't modify the bumper cover right? It just sits below the bumper. He should've had the bumper cut so the tips could sit up in the bumper, like the cts-v coupe. Looks more professional. Maybe he will. The car is pretty impressive though.

I would have done the same thing, he smoothed it out instead to take out that strange large grey plastic "insert" from his 05-07 model bumper for a smooth back.
I would bet the spare tire well prevented a proper mounting of the exhaust on the car. With the fender flaring done I would have removed the spare tire and well to get the exhaust mounted correctly.

Exactly. I agree. But it's his money and his car. And again, can't deny that it's impressive. Flaring the fenders like that and it looking so professionally done.

Hey when you gut the cats it will throw a code but not affect the way the car runs and you have to get a tune to clear that code correct? Where would I get that tune? Sorry I'm new to the high performance world

    Re: Best exhaust option

Ok thanks. That confirms that 4 inch tips are safe versus the non gmpp version of the exhaust which sports 5 inch tips. I'm gonna call and order the exhaust tomorrow and then i have to figure out swapping the 5 inch tips for some 4s.

    Are the tips angle cut?

    ----------

Can you measure the dimensions of the tips? If it is angle cut can you measure from end to long end and end to short end? I want to duplicate how the gmpp version tip is exactly. Thanks.

FYI to everyone else this is about the best price I found. http://www.ajusa.com/Borla-140178-St...Fct9OgodGl4A8g

Turned out borla had one in stock at their location in Tennessee. The guy at aj USA initially said they'd have to build one. Ordered it 2 days ago and as of 10 minutes ago it arrived at the fedex location in Tennessee.

    Re: Best exhaust option

Exhaust came in today. I'm excited. I'm flying up to ny for the weekend so I won't make any progress but next week I plan to take the back portions to a muffler shop and talk about the tips. 5 inch tips are freakin huge by the way. I want to change them out with 4s as soon as possible.

Fast lane, if you could get me those dimensions I'd appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

    Re: Best exhaust option

If you go trough the pictures in the link there is one that you can kind of see the tips. They are also gmpp.

    Re: Best exhaust option

Ah yeah I see that. Can't tell if they're angle cut or not. Can you get dimensions of the tips alone? The length of the tip and if it's angled, the longest length and the shortest length. And for sh**s and giggles the diameter of the tip so I can make sure I duplicate it to a tee. I'm gonna take the tips in to a muffler shop next week so if you could grab those measurements by then I'd appreciate it.
