I am on a number of other car forums. Most of the lightly moderated boards will suffer overtime, as longtime members will flame newbies and chase off new membership. Eventually you get no growth, and many of the long time members sell their vehicles as the years pass and don't return.

I have been on the largest LSx-based forum for near 10 years, and they are very strict about not allowing discussion of non-sponsor vendors. The sponsors pay good money and keep the board afloat with their dollars. If you're going to let Joe Douche's speed shop get free advertising in every post, watch your sponsors drop off, and then there's no revenue to pay the hosting bills.

Removing someone's post for calling a person an idiot over a mere car problem isn't a stretch.

lol the flame war ended up being bigger than the actual problem with the car. I have no problem with being called an idiot, but I'd prefer it be warranted instead of over shutting down a car 45 seconds later than the poster preferred.
