    Buzzing/Rattling stereo when raining

    Hey guys,

The front left (driver) channel on my stereo sounds like it has a blown speaker whenever the car gets wet (car wash, rain, etc.) It hangs around a couple of days and then it's back to normal. My first instinct is to pull the door panel and look for signs of water entry.

Anybody have a better idea? Anybody "hear" of this problem before?

    Thanks,
    Alan

If the cone or coil is getting wet, that's exactly the sound you would get (coil shorting). However, i've never seen a factory car stereo speaker mounted in such a way that water could possibly get to the coil. So if it's getting wet, you've got a significant issue there.

I have that same issue. It was on the passenger side at first. I took it to the dealer and the replaced it. They said it was blown, even though I know better, since it would start working after a day or so. The drivers side does it on occasion. It seems like it is when it has to sit outside in really cold temperatures.

Yes! The colder it is, the longer it lasts. One of these days I'll get a chance to take the door panel off. I'll re-post and let you know what I figure out.
