Cadillac STS-V Series Forum Discussion, Tranny selector - handle loose in Cadillac V-Series Forums; Anyone know how to tighten? They did it under warranty on my SRX, but my STS in now out.. Thanks....

    Anyone know how to tighten? They did it under warranty on my SRX, but my STS in now out..

    I had it done under warranty. Someone knows how to do it and has posted it up before. I just forgot who it was.
    I think the chrome piece under the shifter slides down and exposes a screw or something like that.
    I couldnt figure out how to do it on my own either. The dealer may do it for free. Just ask.

    1. Take a razor blade and pop the chrome trim ring down from the bottom on the shifter.

    2. There is a set screws that need to be tightened. (Edited)

    3. Once they are tightened pop the trim ring back up.

    I like to use a razor blade so I don't scar the plastic trim ring (Old Installer Trick).

    One screw, and it is a Torx head (star-shaped). You could get an allen head wrench in there, though, if you don't have a set of Torx wrenches.
