My car has a little over 17,000 miles on it. I just had to replace the front pair as they wouldn't balance, being worn unevenly towards the insides. So they're all basically new now with about 17,000 miles.
Is that about what I should expect to get out of the stock Pirelli run flats?
The treads were still very strong on the fronts. It was a more of an issue with being unbalanced ..... wobble, wobble, wobble!
Also, if the front wore unevenly, despite being new tires, that have been balanced and rotated, is there a chance that a misalignment might cause them to wear unevenly again?
17K is a pretty fair average for those tires. It seems we do need to watch our air pressure and alignments pretty close with these cars. My last set of non run flats only made it to 17-18K before they were at the wear bars. Hopefully these new ones (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S/ Plus) will fair better. I'm up to about 6K on them so far and they're doing fine.
Those seem to be about fairly average, my fronts are still in pretty good shape at 18,5 -- the rears are about ready to be changed though (worn in the center) -- I did readjust my tire pressure which helped trememdously. I run 27 cold in the rears and 34 psi cold in the fronts. That seems to be the sweet spot for the best wear and a respectable ride.
I have a set of pirelli's cheap with only 800 miles on them if some can use them. Bought the car with them on. I run nitto invos on my c5 vette /750il BMW and now the V. They are not runflats that's why I run them.
