Brake Job

Did you guys use the HPS or Ceramic Hawk Pads?

Im about to get some and was wondering the same thing. Tire Rack sells them, I just dont know whether or not to get the ceramics.

I went with the HPS pads and upgraded the front rotors at the same time. I supplied the parts and the dealorship installed them. No problems, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

I like those with the slots; I picked these up for a deal from a GM Accessories supplier; very happy with them (They are Brembo manufactured and for sale through GM)

Keep a close eye on those cross drilled rotors. The rotors tend to start having radius cracks around the holes.

I got the pads from TireRack.com and the rotors via the dealer (GM performance rotors) because he gave me a nice discount (10% off list and no shipping charges), so they came out the same as ordering from Brembo or any other parts supply. Worked out great for me, as they installed the pads I supplied at the standard labor rate for the brake job. One dealer wouldn't do it at all, and another was going to charge me for the GM pads even though he wasn't installing them. "Flat rate for a brake job." No thanks. Naperville Cadillac has been aces so far with all the work they have done. Helps to get to know the staff and the general manager, I guess. That, and my neighbor who builds and races cars, so I normally go in knowing what I am talking about ahead of time, so they have never tried to BS me in any way.
