New engine order was put in today. | Thanks for keeping us updated...
One of the very few downsides of a hand built motor, any distractions while building a motor could caused a missed step i.e. forgetting to torque the oil pump... IMHO.. Maybe the builder had a little to much the night before..
Look at it this way you will have a fresh motor and YOU will know the history from day one!! Not all of us can say that!! |

That's not good. May be a design flaw of oil sprayed pistons. Crazy thing is the cts-v2 has a piston lubricating system as well. Things that make you go hmmmm! |

inurok - glad to hear you're getting a new motor and being taken care of. I think you get the "prize" for the first reported blown motor on the STS-V

Wasn't a "blown" engine but we replaced it. The replacement came with the supercharger on it. |

Technician claims supercharger is jammed on Brand NEW engine & is pulling the old one off my old engine to use? I was told the guy installing the engine builds race car engines on the side so he knows what he is doing lol. Worst of all I was told the new engine carries NO warranty other than what I have left on my cars original warranty!! Cadillac has offered me 2 free years of onstar how nice.......boy GM it keeps getting better & better!
I am not in a position to buy but I did test drive a 2007 SRT-8 300c today. Boy is that car quick even without a supercharger and the audio system really pounds!! I would say that car is almost as quick as my supercharged car. The 300C SRT-8 is def worth taking a look people. Dirt cheap on Ebay as well. |

yeah I hear that too but after actually test driving one and experiencing it the cars not that bad. No sts-v but not a bad car either with just about the same performance. |

My previous 745 was much nicer inside than the STS-V but I wont get into that here |

This is nothing new or different than anyone else out there. Part of the reason you see folks try and take their cars back to get any problems addressed right before the warranty goes out, because once it does, that's it. Although most dealerships offer 12 months coverage on the stuff they replace, but then you've probably got more factory warranty left than that so that doesn't matter.
Now if you plan on keeping the car well beyond the factory warranty then I would suggest you look at purchasing the extended warranty from GMPP. When I bought mine it came Certified which means I'm covered to 6 years 100K miles. That's plenty of warranty in my book.
I won't even get into the Chrysler comment. |

I won't even get into the Chrysler comment. | Tranny went out on my 2003 Acura twice and both times manufacturer upped the warranty an additional 12 months on that part???
What Chrysler comment? The one stating the SRT-8 was just as quick as a STS-V? |

What Chrysler comment? The one stating the SRT-8 was just as quick as a STS-V? | Ok as I said, if the dealership replaces a part they usually cover that for 12 months as is printed at the bottom of the service invoices, same situation. Do you have less than 12 months or 12,000 miles left on your factory warranty ? Quote: |

| By that comment I took it as you comparing the ownership of an STS-V with a Chrysler 300C SRT8. If that was not the intent, then I retract my previous statement as a misunderstanding of forum text. |

Nah in spite of this situation I would still keep my sts-v over a 300c. I was just surprised at the performance.
My STS-v factory warranty expires in october of 2010 and my GMPP warranty does not expire until 2015 but still cadillac should back its major replacement parts. If i were paying out of my pocket would the engine all of a sudden come with a warranty??? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
