Need Pictures of Corsa Exhaust Installation

Remove this ad
Hey guys, after searching around the forum, I think I have decided to go for the Corsa solution. The only thing that concerns me is the famous "any decent muffler shop should be able to do the modification/installation in less than an hour" quote. I have looked at the pictures of the new Corsa 14157/14158 mufflers and I have examined my stock setup and I can see that this will definitely not be just a bolt-on. However, I would really like to see some pictures of the installation, complete with whatever interim pipes your muffler shop guru had to bend for you, so that I can get a better feel for exactly what is required to make these mufflers fit the V.

Please post whatever pictures you have - before & after would be great! Thanks in advance.

Don't have any pics
What I can tell you is the shop charged around $120 for labor no extra parts required.
They were able to splice into the factory pipes right after the axle.
I was at the shop for more than an hour but wasn't the only car being worked on so not sure how much time was really on my car.

Re: Need Pictures of Corsa Exhaust Installation

Thanks - that helps. The labor charge seems reasonable and would certainly imply that it was not the most challenging installation they ever faced.

So, they cut your stock pipes right after the axle and then how did they attach the mufflers? I thought I read on a previous post somewhere that the mufflers and the stock pipes are the same diameter and that some type of necked down intermediate pipe was required on each side. Since you did not need any extra parts, how did your guy make the connection?

There is a machine that fits inside the new pipe and expands it enough that it will slip over the stock pipe , then its welded .

Re: Need Pictures of Corsa Exhaust Installation

That sounds like a great machine - I will have to find a reputable shop in my area that has one. That is certainly a much better solution than adding extra pieces (i.e., potential leak path). Thanks for the help, Indyblue!

I would still like to see some pictures of the completed installation, if anyone has any.

Exhausts are funny. It is actually much easier to change the entire exhaust (mid-pipe back) than change the mufflers. Mufflers require welding = get a pro or risk leaks. If you bought an entire exhaust you can install it with a 15mm socket wrench and a rubber mallot. That's it.
