Raising the Dead!! Well it is almost Halloween...... Anyway, I have a question. What do the bulges do? Why can't you just fabricate a whole new set of tubes without the mufflers? I mean that looks like what D3 has done.
So I did the mod tonight and guess what I found? The tube between the Intake and the Valve Cover was not connected. Probably not a big deal but I sure was suprised. I also saw some funk (prior leakage) around the intercooler connection to the SC. I am going to have that checked just in case it is leaking.

Bulges are just where the baffles sit. Someone could fabricate a set of intake tubes themselves with the proper resources.
For me personally removing the baffles added just enough S/C noise to the car.
I dont care to much about hearing whine, in fact i prefer not to hear much more than what i already hear with my D3 CAI. I hear a high pitched suction when i give it gas at 2k+ rpms due to the CAI and it is a little annoying. What i do want is a bit of response improvement from the baffle mod. My question is this, how much louder would you say it is once the baffles are replaced? 10-20-30%? I cannot tell from the videos.
I finally got around to doing this today -- Definitely a big THUMBS UP -- I like it very much.. It might have been my imagination but the throttle response seems smoother/crisper and love the WHINE combined with my D3 Stage 1.
While doing this mod, did anyone notice on the three 'PRESSURE' sensors on the left side, that the middle sensor has no kind of vacuum line attached to it? Both the rear and forward sensors had vacuum lines attached but not the second -- I thought I might have incidentally disconnected it as I was being careful with the wiring when putting the intake back together.
ewill3rd can you confirm this? I thought may just be an atmospheric kPa (barometric) sensor.
