Yes, Dan I had to force them in....with a mallet.
You definitely can heard the supercharger whine under full accel. |

Diameter of the intake is increased by the wall thickness of the barrells removed X2 = 1/4 inch (yes I measured it)... |

I try to answer your PM but it`s blocked and that`s the reason why I don`t visit this forum very often.
I`m doing just great and love my STS V even without mods. Since the 13 months I own my car no Mercedes, BMW or Audi past me on the Autobahn.
Avg fuel consumption is around 15 mpg, on hard Autobahn rides I get it down to about 12 mpg.
The vibration rattling noise on the passenger side, you might remember my post was the speaker on the back in the center console. No more noises anywhere beside the soft whinning of the SC when push the pedal hard.
Again, I love my V but the gas tank could be a little bigger and that`s the only thing what could be better.

I took pics all along the way, and if any one is interested I'll throw them up on photobucked or facebook or something.
I really wanted to replace the tubes with something that did not have holes. I figured it would be better have a pure straight through pipe, and eliminate any turbulance caused buy the expanded area of the intake where the plastic tubes go in. I went to the hard store hoping to find PVC pipe the right size, but now go.
So I'd been staring at the plastic tubes all morning, trying to figure out why they looked so familiar. (Kinda like Richard Dreyfuss staring at mashed potatoes in Close Encounters...) Then it hit me: PAINTBALL.
I used to play paintball and the intake tubes looked just like the plastic tubes we'd use to carry spare paintballs in a belt holster on the field. See the pic below - it looks like its almost the perfect size. Unfortunately, I have the intake all re-assembled and really don't want to pull it back out to test it.
Or maybe I'm just being anal and a straight through pipe really wouldn't make any difference....... |

I personally feel the tubes were put there by GM for noise reduction on a high end car! I would not look to replace them with anything. IMHO | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
