Picked up a 2008 yesterday - couple questions:

Woohoo. Bought a 2008 yesterday with 10k miles. Black with the black/red interior. It is just too cool. Roads here in MI were awful so I couldn't get on it, so I'll probably have to wait a month or two to really take it out and enjoy it. In the meantime it'll probably just sit in my garage under a cover to keep the cats off of it.

So I'm dinking around with the user settings on the nav system last night and I have a couple questions. The icons for the magnetic ride control and lane departure settings were greyed out. The manual said I should have prompts for Touring/Performance, but they wouldn't come up. Now - I was just in accessory mode, would that make a difference? (It was like 0 degrees out, so I didn't want to have to open the garage door to have the car started and lose all my garage heat.)

The manual also talked about turning the knob on the radio to scroll through settings and options. This didn't seem to do anything (except turn up the radio). Now, I'm generally not a dumb guy, but I'm a little confused.

Any help?

In the meantime - my 2003 Mercury Marauder becomes my dedicated winter beater car. I think I'm the first guy on the planet to have a Marauder as a winter-only car.

As for the questions on the NAV, I can only guess the features you are trying to set only work when the car is running . . .

STS's have magnetic ride controll STS-v's do not .. That's why its greyed out

The manuals and settings are shared with the standard STS, so some functions and options for one car may not be applicable to the other.

I guess I just assumed that the V had pretty much all the available options for a regular STS that were in the manual. (Except for the stuff that was AWD specific).

What about the Lane Departure stuff? That was greyed out too. I was pretty sure the V had that. (At least I think it was Lane Departure - its was the bottom-most icon on the nav display).

sorry. U Got a V. You won't need that lane departure stuff. You will be passing things at a much higher rate of speed. ;-)
