| | If it won't run, chrome it..... Normal highway load should run around 34 - 38 degrees total advance, and some engines are OK with as high as 40+ ( not a Northstar and not blown.....) Too bad the old mechanical/vacuum advance distributors couldn't react that fast.........
"Pulling timing" actually refers to dropping down to less advance than maximum for the given power demand, and it's done to prevent detonation under load.
.....just noticed that the throttle position is 30%, so the engine is not under any great load - timing will stay advanced for the most power under those load conditions.... |

That is why i like the 4 cam engines. There are ALOT of things you can do with it. 4 cam variable cam timing is awsome.. |

Which is about 4 too much. You can see where the engine say the beginning of a knock frequency and then due to the strength of it, it pulled the max of 4 degrees in order to not have real knock. You can see it is real as the rate it feeds the spark back in is long and took 5 steps.
19.000000
22.000000
24.500000
22.500000
19.500000
Is what it is asking for at that exact spot. the 24.5 was right where you say your spike. |
