Since the last post I've had a left lower control arm replaced due to squeaking/squealing when it was real cold out and coming to a stop. (think was was in Jan)
Today they replaced the right rear wheel bearing and hub as it was making a loud roaring sound after you got above about 40mph. All quiet now.
Also I was told my rear brake pads have about 10% left. Those are still the stock OEM pads which I'll replace with Hawks. The car has almost 36K miles on it. So you owners who haven't replaced them yet keep an eye out as you near 30-35K miles if you're running the stock pads.
Well, since I have the oldest V here (12/23/05), I thought I would throw my 2 cents in:
door unlock receiver replaced; door switch replaced (wouldn't unlock)
rear seal replaced at 2200 miles and again after recall notice
transmission switch on column replaced - couldn't find PARK and would not turn off
replace front rotors and all pads (upgraded)
tires - summer (GY GS-D3) and winter (Advan S4) at 17k
Otherwise a very reliable automobile!
Bob, did you replace the front rotors and pads because of horrible squeeling? If I brake softly or hard - no squeel, but under medium braking, full of squeels
just bought my '08. The VIS showed rt headlight replaced twice due to moisyure. Both front wheel bearings replaced. Battery replaced 3 times and mant many roadside assistance calls. I took it in to the dealer the day after I bought it:
cruise control inop --- replaced stalk switch
lane dept warning inop----replace body control module
auto rain wipers --- replaced body control module
ashtray would not close -- replace ashtray
rubber hose hanging under car --- refastened trans vent hose
There is a plastic shield missing under the engine that the dealer says will void my warranty if i don't replace it, but they wont replace it under warranty because they dont know what happened to it. i pointed out that all service has been done by cadillac and if the shield fell off it was due to a tech not installing it correctly after an oil change. no luck so far. $120 for the part 1 hr of labor, bs flag on that!
Hmm that's kinda strange they won't replace it via the warranty. Unless they can show or prove the owner was at fault, one would just assume it fell of or wasn't put back on after some maintenance. Really shouldn't be an issue for them to do, they get reimbursed.
Although there are some "strange" dealerships out there.
i have a lockpick for my 2008. I've exchanged it 3 times and still does the same thing. It goes into "lockpick mode" on it's own. If you're navigating, i'll look down and see that I'm in that mode and the nav is not moving. Pretty irritating when you miss a turn due to 'lockpick mode". No rhyme or reason why or when it does it. The L shop told me that they tested the units i returned and they worked perfectly. Must be an anomaly with my car only. Other than that annoyance, it works great.
I notice that my nav is off by several houses as well. I recalibrate often and still it's off. BTW, don't waste your money on the 2010 nav disk upgrade. It's a POS. My 2008 infiniti (same navteq) is more up to date. Navteq blames it on GM, saying they give them the data and if they don't choose to use it, oh well. GM's answer is "sorry, no returns on nav disks".
