Car felt a little funny but nothing out of the ordinary. Went in for dinner and then left for some shopping.
running up GA400 at speed limit until i notice a Ferrari 348 spyder coming up behind me. With family in the car I begrudgingly let him pass then fall in right behind him. I goosed it up an additional 10 mph to keep speed with him (maybe to 75 mph).
I look down at the DIC and see "Engine Hot --- Air Off" I immediately look to the temp guage which is burried below cold. I pull over and pop the hood.
NO high speed fan running... Oil was just changed a day earlier by dealer and was fine... the blower lid was cool to the touch (have all the plastic covers in the garage)... radiators were cold to the touch.. water houses going to/from water pump was warm, not hot.
Drove it home (maybe 10 miles) engine still running smooth as glass. Got home turned it off and NO HIGH SPEED FANS RUNNING at any time.
I'll take it in first thing Monday but it just sounds crazy the the engine was actually cool but the DIC says HOT and the temp guage was showing cold beyond cold. |

38 deg out side and car had been siting all night. Ice/ frozen dew was all over the car. Started it up and you guessed it.
ENGINE HOT ---- AC OFF on DIC
must be a faulty sensor somewhere. I didn't think it was running hot yesterday. |

The temp guage started reading 2 lines below half and coming up to temp. Got AC (defrost) back and transmission came out of protect mode. Useless to bring it in without the condition showing. All I would get is "could not duplicate".
I'll wait and see if it comes back. |

They just called, tire has to be replaced. Once again a win for the Tire and Wheel Protect program I paid for when buying the car to cover road hazards. I'm betting GM is losing money with this one.
(BTW - those are F1 All Seasons on the rear with 9K miles on it) |

My 06 has developed the same problem. From a cold start, it gives me the "Engine Hot - Air Off" warning, and the engine temp needle pegs low. Since the needle sweeps on startup like it should, and since the oil temp and all other indications are normal, I'm pretty sure it's a sensor problem, which isn't a huge concern, particularly as it's only a $20 part. However, I have no idea where the damn sensor is.
Anyone? |

Take it to the dealer because it needs a TCM reprogram per the service bulletin. The code on my invoice says J6353 if that helps. |

If the computer can't read the sensor it assumes the worst and makes you think you need to get it in right away... which you do.
Possible wiring issues....
Could that be J6354? I don't show J6353 as a valid labor op?

Got a DashHawk, and it simply doesn't happen with the DashHawk installed. Within an hour of disconnecting it, bam, failure. Tried maybe 5 times. Been running with the DashHawk on for a month and a half(ish) now, not one failure with it connected. This may or may not work with another kind of ODBC II reader.
Something to give you a little solace even if you don't get the addon: the temperature signal is still there, so it's not a wiring issue. It's a data processing bug, which is still annoying, but the sensor itself is good. The DashHawk still gives me good info out of the sensor when the car is in error mode, for some reason that isn't making it to the dash display?
Anyone else have a DashHawk, and, if so, did you permanently mount it? Where? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
