Air temp was around 42 degrees, overcast and very windy. On Saturday I installed the D3 stage I/II intake and ECU, other than that the car is bone stock.
My best run was 12.730 @ 107.99 with a 1.816 60'. The track was really sticky and my best time came with 20 psi in the rear tires (run craps). I found that if I squeezed the throttle just right off the line, the rear would not break loose (some wheel hop but thats about it). Basically launched the car around 1900 RPMs. Oh and I disconnected both rear wheel sensors so I could really heat up the tires. I think with some more practice, I could get to 12.6, maybe 12.5.
Other times were:
12.85 @ 107.81
13.10 @106.14
13.08 @ 106.60
13.37 @ 106.27 (2.072 60' - lots of wheel spin)
13.72 @ 106.20 (reaction time was the only good thing on this pass @ .011)
I've never ran the car in bone stock trim; I'm assuming I picked up at least 4 to 5 tenths with this simple bolt on mod. Its not cheap, but overall I think its worth it (especially if you like the sound of a blower). I got lots of complements today. Good job D3! |

My V is modded similarly, except I've got the Corsa mufflers. I've also dyno-tuned mine. I've got dr's and some custom wheels, if I ever get it to the track this year. Unfortunately, nobody down here will run in forty degree air.
My Impala SS went 11.91, a couple of weeks ago. Lost on a .01 breakout in the finals! |

Glad you had a great day at the track and your times look really good for this car.
Without testing the car under the same conditions, before and after the mods, who knows if there was any real difference other than more blower whine. What always seems to be lacking is concrete before and after data/info or it's done under different conditions possibly skewing the results.

True. |

I totally agree about the comparison, I wish I ran it before I did the mods. I'm always skeptical about HP gains by manufacturers. I'm not saying to go out and buy D3's stuff - I think its over priced, but I'm not disappointed with the purchase. I did dyno the car and bone stock it put down 365 hp after 20 hot laps on the track (it was pretty warm out too). I hope to get it dyno'd again in the spring so maybe that would be a good comparison.
For the skeptics out there on the 1/4 mile time & speed, I have nothing to gain by exaggerating the numbers. I'm just letting all the faithful V owners what this one V ran on this one particular day. You can check out the video on you tube:
And you can compare that to the time slips I posted in my album. You Tube kills the resolution so its kinda hard to read my time, plus the telephone pole blocks some of it. But you can clearly see the Evo ran 12.76 (actually 12.755) and I ran 12.855 on this pass. My last pass was when I ran the 12.73. |

As to D3's claims on their 1.5 package, they were right on the money with my V. I did some before and after dyno stuff, believe it or don't believe it.
D3's not paying me a dime, I made 416 at the wheels.
You wanna go fast, you pay somebody to make the parts, or you make them yourself. |

I've got a lot of experience modding and racing my cars. Like I said, believe it or don't believe it. I'm just relating my actual experience with the package, on my V. |

Certainly not reflective upon you or your word, just like to see it vs just hear it. |

I installed the D3 1.5 package on my V back in May. At the time, I didn't realize there was a good FI tuner living twenty minutes from me.
Fast forward to October, I take my V in, and we do some tuning on it. The baseline run was made without D3's box. Mods on the car were the 1&2 intake systems, and the Corsa mufflers.
It made 352.3 @ 6157, corrected, on a Mustang dyno. With a generally accepted 13% difference on a Dynojet, that figures out to 398.099, at the wheels.
Most stock numbers I've seen on a Dynojet run around 360-365.
My final numbers, leaning the tune a bit, were 368.7 @ 6344. That factors out to 416.631, at the wheels.
I think the numbers show their claims are right on the mark.
You live two hours down the road from me, you can always drive over and see for yourself. |

Same dyno and temp / humidity being pretty close for all runs compared.
Dyno'd stock with at least three pulls. Better if done more than once at a different session to confirm numbers.
Then dyno'd again after each change is made to see any difference(s) from the alteration. Also prefer the car get dyno'd at least a few weeks after the mods to confirm the Delta wasn't temporary and the car has readjusted itself after driving cycles.
The type of dyno isn't really as important as using the same dyno for the comparison. The Delta is what should be telling.
Yeah the internet can be a bitch, which is part of the reason I like to see as conclusive of proof as possible.
Luckily for me I've had the car dyno'd several times on the same machine and know my numbers are pretty solid under the same conditions. So any changes that do occur, like the dealership muckin up a repair and causing a HP loss (cough, cough), can be proven to be reliable. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
