Looking at 08 STS V and need opinions

Tired of throwing gobs of money into my 7 series BMW. Looked at a V year ago or so and thought the beamer would hold out, but the $ output never seems to end. I have a chance to buy a black/black (only thing I don't like about it) brand new 08 for $66K. A lot less than I was quoted a year ago. Is this a good price? How is the reliability? It seems the resale is pretty low compared to foreign, but I typically drive my cars till nothin is left anyway.

I am a newbie here to Cadillacs, but have a lot of experience in other high perf cars. Have several.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Bruce

    Bruce,

    Welcome...
If you wish to save a few bux, look at an 07...theyre going for about 20K less than the 08s right now. You wont get all the bells and whistles though (HUD, Lane departure, etc.) but its the same basic car otherwise.
Hope to see you here more often.

Check e-bay for a 07 brand new at a dealer. 143 miles on her and still showroom new. I think he was asking $49k.

I work in the plant that builds the STS and I must say if I could afford one I would by this car. The northstar is one of the finest engines you could ever run. The power will keep you driving it for a long time. I fit in the car like a glove and for me 50 years old it is my cool car.

Re: Looking at 08 STS V and need opinions

You asked what we thought of our STS-V's. I love my V. Even when I get a new CTS-V coupe I will still keep my STS-V. For a long time I have trying to convince my friend (long time lexus sc400 owner) to consider the STS-V to replace their failing Lexus. They laughed every time I brought it up and dismissed the notion. Last week we (me , my wife, and them) went to dinner. They came over early so we all took 1 car. I took this opportunity to try again. I offered to let her drive the V. She finally agreed.

First words out of her mouth were, after going 0 -90 with 4 people in the car very quickly was ..... wow thats effortless and just giggled.

Re: Looking at 08 STS V and need opinions

After a couple more WOT runs and some twisties she said she liked the stiff handling and the way it handled. She said she hadn't realized the caddy was so tight. I think I made a convert that night.. She was in the market for a Audi S5. BUT may now be looking at a 09 CTS-V.

Well I hope I feel the same way in a couple weeks. I bought that one on ebay u told me about. Just couldn't turn it down! I had been looking at some new ones locally but even with all the incentives they have right now I thought the 07 was the way to go.

    Thanks for the lead.
