A buy back is probably good in this case. Find another STS-V and you'll be happy with it. The STS-V is a great performing vehicle and has a lot of potential for upgrades. Sorry for the bad experience and we hope this did not turn you off to Cadillac or the STS-V.

Good to hear GM has looked at the situation and is doing what we would expect a quality car company to do in your case.

As Fire and Ice has said, the STS-V is a good car, it just sounds like your initial experience was with a bad one. Look around for another, the deals are still out there. Just have the VIN number handy and get the service history of the car run before you purchase to make sure it's got a relatively clean record and you're getting the quality automobile it is. Also look for one that's a Cadillac Certified Pre-Owned if you can find one.

Very happy for you. I have to believe that if GM was willing to buy back, after you bought from a non-GM dealer used car dealer (right?) and the car has not even been seriously worked on by any dealer since then, that they know something is seriously wrong with the car and it will now have a branded title. Something tells me your used car dealer also knew somehting was up. All is well that ends well.

    From the owners manual:

    Courtesy Transportation:

To enhance your ownership experience, we and our
participating dealers are proud to offer Courtesy
Transportation, a customer support program for new
    vehicles.
The Courtesy Transportation program is offered to
customers in conjunction with the Bumper-to-Bumper
coverage provided by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Several transportation options are available when
warranty repairs are required. This will reduce your
    inconvenience during warranty repairs..

More from the owners manual on this:

    Courtesy Rental Vehicle

Your dealer may arrange to provide you with a courtesy
rental vehicle or reimburse you for a rental vehicle
that you obtain if your vehicle is kept for a warranty
repair. Reimbursement will be limited to a maximum
amount per day and must be supported by receipts. This
requires that you sign and complete a rental agreement
and meet state, local and rental vehicle provider
requirements. Requirements vary and may include
minimum age requirements, insurance coverage, credit
card, etc. You are responsible for fuel usage charges
and may also be responsible for taxes, levies,
usage fees, excessive mileage or rental usage beyond
    the completion of the repair.
Generally it is not possible to provide a like-vehicle as a
    courtesy rental.

Re: Major sts-v transmission and service related issues MUST READ PLEASE HELP

i had problems with cadillac also about my transmission

btw, the lemon law in nj takes about a year before it goes to arbitration because GM sits on it. i do not know how long it takes in your state, but they will probably offer you a little cash which does you no good, and then make you wait for a court date. the lemon law attornies will do it for no charge to you but the wait is killer. i feel for you because i have been through the ringer too. this is what happened to me.

bought the car new. after 3000 miles the transmission developed an extremely hard downshift when accelerating smoothly. it occurs when you are driving 40 to 50 mph and attempt to accelerate slowly as if you were going to accelerate moderatly entering a highway. when you push down the accelerator the transmission downshifts one gear fine, but if you continue to accelerate slowly and evenly then BAMMMMM and a hesitation when it drops down into the next gear. it is violent enough, and i mean violent, that passengers are startled, some gasp, and your head is jerked forward. if you are driving 40 to 50 mph and floor it the transmission downshifts fine. i have had it to the dealer 3 times with no luck. the mechanics feel it, and the problem can be replcated everytime. the first time cadillac changed a part in the valve body stating there were no codes but there was a tsb for a hole that was drilled too small in the valve body. they changed the part but this did not fix it so i had to bring it back. they reflashed the trans and gave the car back to me. still did not fix it. the third time i left the car and told the dealer to keep the car until it was fixed. all in all they had the car for weeks. cadillac now says it is normal and will not give the dealer parts to fix it or offer any help. my response was lets get in an new one and i gaurantee it will not do this. they agreed but said their hands were tied since cadillac would not help. is there any insight on this as to what is causing the problem or has anyone else had these issues with the transmission and cadillac?
