Cadillac Forums: Why doesn't the STS-V have coolant temp readout?
Does anyone wonder why the STS-V doesn't have a coolant temp readout? It seems like we have every readout on the DIC like oil temp, trans temp, engine oil temp, battery volts, tire pressure readings, but no coolant temp readout. I am used to the C5 and C6 Corvettes having all the readouts so you can monitor all under hood temps.
With the STS-V being a high performance vehicle and one that runs hot because of the roots type supercharger, why didn't GM give us the coolant temp display on the DIC? It is odd to me. I know there is the analog guage, but there is no specific way to see the actual coolant temp.
Re: Why doesn't the STS-V have coolant temp readout?
I wondered the same thing. My theory is that there are too many heat exchangers and too many sensor locations to decide where to read it from. Obviously, there is data for this available and it would be an easy code fix but all you get is the analog gauge with no numbers on it. The other option would be to hook up a data device to the OBD-II port. My choice would be the dashhawk by MSD http://www.dashhawk.com/
SEMI-RELATED: I always thought that it would be nice to have the DIC show speed AND tach while you are in the speed display mode... there is plenty of room on that line if the speed was shifted over some.
Bottom line is that I am with you on this one... I have rented base level Buicks that had temp display and tach data in the DIC.
