Cadillac Forums: CTS-V owner looking to get an STS-V...advice?
I went from a 2006 CTS-V LS2 to a 2007 STS-V and I don't miss the CTS-V one bit!
They are two different animals. The CTS-V felt like a cheap flimsy toy. The STS-V feels like a solid car. The STS-V's build quality is so much better and you can't believe that both cars were built in the same factory!
The STS-V is also way more comfortable. I feel like I can cruise in my STS-V and it is perfectly comfortable. The CTS-V just felt cheap. You could easily tell that the CTS platform wasn't built with the CTS-V in mind. The 2004-2007 CTS-V was more of an after thought instead of the Cadillac team building the CTS to handle the high performance engine, suspension, initially.
I am sure the Cadillac team learned their lesson and the 2009 CTS-V should be the best Cadillac ever built.
I love my STS-V, but I won't have it much longer. Once I step up to the 2009 CTS-V, the STS-V will then be the inferior product. It's always like that once you have a basis for comparison.

I was also considering the AMG63 but I would have to wait a few months for that. In that case, there is NO way I would pick the AMG63 over the 09 CTS-V. If I have to wait that long I'll get the 560+ hp V.
It all depends on GMAC and how they let me out of my Lease. I am not sure if they are going to let me out of it or if I have to get another Cadillac and replace the one I have on the lease.

I had a CTS-V and traded it in for a STS-V and not be any happier!!! If you have the chance to drive/own one of these wonderful cars do it!! As for the automatic shifting... After I got my tune the shifting improved by 100%.. I can now easily chirp the tires from the 1st to 2nd.. On the highway, when down shifting to pass another car.. It is super fast in (S) mode when letting the car do its own thing (not manually shifting the auto). It os way faster than I could imagine anyone shifting themselfs, (again, this was after the tune)! So if you buy one, get it tuned! The torque nannies severly hold this car back.

Thanks for the offer. I would love to. I am up in the Palmdale/Lancaster area so just hopping over would be out of the question. I would have to plan ahead.
It looks like I am leaning toward the 09 CTS-V. I just do not think I would be happy with an automatic trans.
Torque nannies are put in place to protect the drivetrain from shock and lessen the load on the drivetrain. In the STSV you will notice the 500RPM delay between shifts, mundane launches, etc... There are other ways to "unleash the potential" with the STSV. The air induction system on the STSV is VERY restrictive and will result in very noticable HP & TQ gains in the usable RPM band.
The dealership would never remove your torque nannies, however they would install D3 performance products on your vehicle.
There are plenty of products available for your STSV, its just a matter of how fast or how much power you want....
Thanks,

The intake is a quick and easy install that can be done in less than a half hour. It is a direct bolt in replacement for the factory intake. All our intakes come with installation instructions, but should you have any additional technical questions, please feel free to PM me or Mark. Thank you.
