    STS-V Dyno Tune

Jeremy Formato dyno tuned the STS-V today; this was his first time with an STS-V on a dyno, and the results were excellent. He made many adjustments that are beyond my ability to explain, but throttle response is better, shifting faster and there's noticeably more power. There was a gain of about 38 hp and 18 lb ft of torque. On top of that, he's a very nice guy and very conscientious. I had a great time tonight burning rubber like a 16 year old.

Apparently you won't be posting on the thread complaining about the gas mileage?

UM there is something seriously wrong with the dyno. How did he make 1185.10 Ft lbs of TQ? That's the TQ of a twin turbo racing diesel.

As to our earlier PM conversation... I am not sure why he chose to do the dyno runs in 3rd gear?? It's not the closest to 1:1 ratio.. Maybe someone else can chime in on this one.

    1st Gear Ratio 4.027

    2nd Gear Ratio 2.364

    >3rd Gear Ratio 1.532

    4th Gear Ratio 1.152

    5th Gear Ratio 0.852

    6th Gear Ratio 0.667

    Reverse Ratio 3.064

Take it back, have him flash it back to stock. Then do a couple of pulls in 4th at stock, then flash back to your final tune and do a 3rd pull. Make sure he shows you SAE numbers vs STD. You've got a couple of funky things there as others pointed out.

Tachometer reading from the sparkplug wire?

I don't know what caused the torque spike in the first run. The computer gave a reading of 348 lb ft as I recall. Whether done in 3rd or 4th, the gain would appear to be more important than the absolute number. At any rate I'm happy with the final result.

I'm not knocking your tune. I am just having fun with the dyno. I believe in re-tuning as my gains have greatly changed the performance of the car. Wasted a C6, and kept up door to door with a lowered and cat back modified C6 Z06. All with only a tune and TQ nanny removal. Got a thumbs up from both Vette drivers

That's possible; they tried a couple of different connections, I think. Would that cause an aberration in the torque reading?

The STS-V doesn't have spark plug wires. It uses coil packs that directly fit over the spark plug. Now it's possible to take the lead from the dyno, clip onto a coil pack and get enough inductance to have an rpm reading for the dyno. What they probably did was move the lead around looking for a signal until they found it.

I still think you should get them to give you the SAE numbers from the runs as well as the STD ones though. They can do that from the runs already completed.
