    so many visits to dealer

please can someone convince me to keep this car, my V has been to the dealership more times than i gotten an oil change, if its not condensation in the headlights, second time on the same recall on the rear end, trans mounts, cat converter, check engine lights about the converter valve or something, hubs in all 4 wheels, nav radio, speakers in the passenger seat, drivers door speaker, leak in sun roof, passenger side front caliper, and the horn. is it becausue i baby the car too much, i might punch it once in a while , but i will not turn down a good race. i think gm needs to invest in a new company who make parts with a little more quality than quantity, i rather wait for quality and drive a loaner untill the part arrives, WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Re: so many visits to dealer

im pretty much thinking the same thing is to get rid of it, its not like the repairs are coming out of pocket, its just so time consuming, and im sick of $50 deposit on loaners cars and they dont have what you want, i dont want a g6 as a loaner when i paid close to 80k, give me a DTS or a base to someway loaded STS. i finally lucked up and got a buick lucerne with all he whistles, and a northstar to, so now they can take there sweet time, because im sick of the weekly visits to the dealership, it feels like im on probation having to report everyweek.

I'd hang on to it, sounds like you almost have all the bugs worked out.
Why start over with another car?

I know it is frustrating, sounds more like you need a better dealer than another car.

Re: so many visits to dealer

From my experiance so far,, if you sneez in the wrong direction the check engine light comes on.. I know more than several folks that have had the converters replaced already.. Either a design flaw, or it's from letting the car sit for longs periods of time, and there just turning it on and off to keep the battery going, and that's loading them up (maybe someone else can answer why they don't last).. Perhaps some folks are useing 87 octane,, Which is a really big no no! ..like ewill3rd, it seems that almost all of the bugs have been worked out.. At some point the dealer trips will crawl down to a stop. I would just keep it, and enjoy it, because it's a great car... Looks wise, and performance wise!

    But don't take just take my opinion that's it's a great car,, watch this;

back from the dealer, they said the reason the check engine light is on is because of my cold air intake i installed back in october, i dont understand it never came on because of that, and now all of a sudden it does. they also said that it didnt need motor mounts either. i know when i floor it and release the pedal i hear a clump sound from under where the trans is at. oh well

Re: so many visits to dealer

We sold half a dozen or so of those. They come back regularly for service when they need it.
I think most were early '06 models.
I had a couple with some wiring issues and some intermittent CEL concerns. After a couple visits I got those taken care of. They used to come in more often, now I haven't seen any of them for a few months.
I think we got them going. I love driving them, so comfortable and plenty of power.

I'm surprised the light came on?? D3 sells a similar Cold Air Intake with cone filter.. I havn't heard of there's causing the cel to come on.... Unless, perhaps when used by itself (no additional control box) it does?

Re: so many visits to dealer

Funny, I should complain of the same nagging number of dealership visits, but with both Sewell and Massey in my backyard, my service experiences are always satisfactory, and usually accompany a complimentary new-ish Cadillac loaner (usually a CTS or SRX).

So far I've visited the dealership for the following:
    • Supercharger intercooler pump, reservoir hose (electric pump whine)
    • Power steering pump and high-pressure hose (noisy)
    • Power steering rack
    • Right-side headlight housing (moisture)
    • Both front wheel hubs (whirring noise, failed bearings)
    • Driver seat (creaking)
    • Navigation radio (bluetooth sync issue, firmware update)
    • Repainted rocker moldings (damaged)
    • Repainted rear bumper (damaged)
It's still a fun car to drive, but I wouldn't want to maintain it out of warranty.
