I don't drive a "V" series car but in the owners manual of my 2007 1SB car it does list pictures of both the 'old' style remote and the 'new' style remote...so maybe the powers that be were planning on implementing the new fobs in 2007 but didn't get around to it until 2008.
On the 'non V' cars the 2007s also added a painted Caddy crest to the crest that is on the center of the wheels. The 2006s had a crest but they were not painted.
Edit: Looks like the wheels on the V series have always had painted crests on black backgrounds. |

A 2 fold question.
1. I am looking to buy a used STS-V. I was bringing this thread back to ask again the differences, bug fixes between 2006-2008 as it's been a little while and some new things may have come to light.
2. I understand specific car forums like this one can make it seem like a car has problems. I was wondering what your thoughts were on how the STS-V compares in terms of maintenance problems to others cars. (does it being supercharged give any extra challenge to maintain as I am not a person who works on cars?)
In reading through posts I understand it is sometimes hard to find dealers that have STS-V experience which worries me a little. I do intend to get a CPO or extended warranty.
I look forward to learning from everyone as I search for my STS-V!
Thank you |

Compared to my CTSv, this thing is a d-r-e-a-m! No issues, no assaches, no problems....just miles of smiles.

Is there anything you guys notice that "check your ECM/TCM for updates" doesn't fix? |

I was told by one of the Cadillac engineers at V-Day 1 that the shift points were "sweetened" for the 2007 model year.

Do the "07 have this fixed?
Thanks. |

Have then check the trans fluid (our cars are touchy about being les than full onthe fluid and acts up in all kinds of ways if not completely full), and tell them to make sure the car has the latest updates. that should fix it if its minor.
06 athrough 09 are identical in hardware and a dealer update to any model year gets the latest goodies. |

Obviously no CPO available at this dealership.
Clunk was heard as I was driving normally. |

My 06 has 64,000 miles on it and is not babied. Still shifts smoothly and quietly. Might want to keep looking. |

I'd try and find one through a dealership who could CPO it for you. |

Did you buy your V's locally (where you live) or did you travel to see them?
I see appealing ones on the net but not close to me (Ebay, Cars.com, AutoTrader etc.).
Would you consider a GM warranty a good compromise if no CPO.
As I understand it the CPO's and GM warranty's are feasible but stay away from the third party ones.

Bought mine locally at a Cadillac Dealership, already advertised as CPO, with 180 miles on the odometer.
As long as you get the GMPP warranty (that's GMs) you're fine. Be it via CPO or purchased from another source as the extended. |

I have GMPP 6/100k and never had any trouble at a caddy dealer. Bought mine used from a Chevy dealer. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
