Relating to performance, getting the car dyno tuned, or doing it yourself if you know how, can be one of the "cheaper" upgrades for the car that yields measurable improvements in HP and Tq vs cost. Shops generally charge around 400.00 to do it and it's something that can be flashed back to stock when you turn the car back in. However it's doubtful they would even know it's in there in the first place.

If you have an unlimited wallet there are several things you can do to the car that can be returned to stock. Personally, spending 3-400.00 on a tune to see a real 15 rwhp gain makes better sense than spending 500-1000 on air intakes or 15-1800.00 on a cat-back exhaust to mainly improve the sound of the car. Unless of course the 2000-3000.00 sound improvement is what an individual is looking for.

Aesthetics wise, tail lamps, 3rd brake lights, wheels, etc can all be changed and reversed with little effort. Again it's just a question how much you have/want to spend on such things for a lease vehicle and then try and sell at the end to recoup some of the costs.

What is it you're mainly considering to do ?

Either easy power boost (pulley change is typical on SC cars but not these I heard) or sound improvement (intake sound is fine). Just something to make it feel or sound a littl ebetter than stock. On the prior gen STSs there was a pannel you could remove from the airbox to access the ECU. It just so happened when you left it off you got this great intake sound and a minor ram air effect.

    Hello,
There are quite a few upgrades that you can do to your vehicle with compromising anything. A real popular upgrade most of our customers go with is the stage 1.5 system. It offers a great performance gain without any long term changes. Total install is about 2-3 hours depending on how many breaks you take. The dealerships dont have any issues with this pacakge as well. You have to be very careful about dyno tuning and reflashing the ECU. That is something that can be red flagged pretty quickly. We do offer such a service, but usually after the customer has already been exposed to the plug and play options. Just to give you an idea we have dealerships that offer the stage 1.5 on new STSV's. Please let us know if you have any questions or need any additional information.

    Thank you,

    Dr. Design

Thanks Dr. Is stage 1.5 an intake and cat back? I just ordered my STS-V.
