I don't know dude, 388HP sure sounds high for a car with a stock tune in it. Has anyone else's STS-V dyno'd that high stock ?

Sorry your first day feels like a waste, I know the feeling. But have them keep working it and y'all should get it figured out.

That's roughly a 17% drivetrain loss (figuring 469 at the flywheel). Certainly possible, or you've got a nicely tuned engine from the factory.

    Re: Dyno Tuning tip list

wow. alot has gone on today with this. a couple of things elvis...

    1. cool trick with abs disable
    2. are you talking about wideband o2 that he installed to tune it, and hptuners wouldn't get readings from it? if so, don't you plug orig o2 plug into wideband harness, and then plug wideband into external connections of hptuners pro box? i know everyone does it a little diff.
    3. i have heard of people who have tuned an 06 v with hp-tuners, so i'm not sure why they're saying it's not supported, even though you did seem to have problems.
    4. 388-390rwhp seems kind of generous, which some dynos are.
    5. i am looking dead at your stock tune, and don't see these fuel tables you're talking about.

sorry you had a bad day bro.

I'll send you some of the modified versions we saved. The only 2 changes that made any difference to the A/F was increasing the spark dwell like you suggested. we got it to a dead flat 10.5 (measured out the tail pipe) but made no significant gains on hp or tq. The other adjustment he made i can't remember. It was a Dyno Jet on a cool 50 deg day just after a heavy rain the night before.

    Re: Dyno Tuning tip list

My tuner was really thourough. 2 pulls for each change and trying to keep the same temps at the same time. I can't say we made no extra power maybe 5 to 8 off baseline but I was expecting much much more. You'll see in the file dyno 4 we started to get spark knock and made stock numbers. So we were going in the right direction 1 or 2 hp at a time but making huge adjustments. The biggest frustration was not really knowing what the wideband was giving us on the A/F ratio. I did not get the bung hole installed because i was told the STS-V comes stock with a wideband o2 sensor. The EFI Live reads this sensor fine and shows A/F ratios. The HPTuner must be reading the post cat sensors not the pre cat sensors (the wideband ones) because all we saw was millivolts.

    Re: Dyno Tuning tip list

just looked at my dyno sheet.

    Baseline pull #1 = 378.97 hp / 370.47 tq
    pull 6 = 388 / 368
    pull 8 = 390 / 369
    pull 11 = 386 / 369
    pull 12 = 384 / 366

I did see a 2 to 5 hp difference between 1st and 2nd pulls each change.

Elivs... Great info!!! Just curious what's the cost of all this work??

I'm thinking of working with Doug Levin motorsports on a Project STS-v down here in South Florida but he mainly works with Lambo's and Vipers but we're trying to work on this project.

I'm going to follow up on your project and see if your guys can provide a good tune. If so I'll definitely jet up to ATL!

One question that just popped up. Are those numbers SAE corrected ? (should say on the dyno sheet)
