Re: Questionable Carfax Maintenance Records - Looking for Opinions
The Pirellis do dissolve at a very quick pace, but with 469 hp and 440 lb/ft of torque they are going to melt away! Oh and a heavy right foot doesn't help.
Re: Questionable Carfax Maintenance Records - Looking for Opinions
Well, I bought it. It was listed at $44,999 and I sealed the deal at $43,500. After speaking with Brandon the former service writer for the car I feel pretty confident about the purchase. Still, it's a little nervewracking buying it sight unseen. But the deal is contingent on a third party inspection that will take place tomorrow.
All in all I think I got a pretty sweet deal for a 2007 STS-V with less than 14K miles. Can't wait til it's parked in my garage!

Congrats on the purchase! You are going to love the car. I went from an 04 CTS-V to the STS-V and have been very happy with the car. It took me a little while to get used to the additional size/weight and the Auto, but after a little less than a year I am very comfortable with the car. Took it up to VIR a couple of months ago and had a blast with it. I still feel like the CTS-V handles a little better, but straight line performance seems about the same and you get all the comfort/luxury benefits (and additional room) of the STS-V.
I still have reasonable treadlife on the stock Pirellis after 7800 miles. That is almost double what I got out of the F1-EMTs on my CTS-V (replaced at approx. 4k miles!). So the Pirellis are soft, but not nearly as bad as what you are coming from.

Congrats on getting your car I hope the 3rd party sees no issues and all goes well.
I compare the difference of the two cars between an F-16 (CTS-V) and an F-14 (STS-V) Both capable fighters, but one is a little more nimble and lighter, while the other has more room, power, and conviences.
Re: Questionable Carfax Maintenance Records - Looking for Opinions
I recall seeing some threads here about the STS V having a ton more equipment. Considering the fact that dealers are dumping new STS Vs (price-wise), I would love to have one with an auction price. That is if the auction does not bring crazy money. Some of the bidders from overseas really jack the prices up.
Check to see if the warranty is not blocked. If it is not, grab the car.

No, the transaction fell through. My lender would not finance the car since it was a manufacturer buyback. So if any of you are in the market, you should be able to get a pretty good deal on a 2007 STS-V with 14K miles at Ernie von Schledorn GM Superstore in Saukville, WI.
They have it listed at $44,999 but I talked them down to $43,500. I'm sure they would go even lower, especially given the vehicle's history as a buyback. But you either have to be paying with cash, or using a lender that will finance a buyback vehicle.
