I saw the news the 09 CTS V will have 550 horses!
Will they even make a STS V in 09? Given the higher price I suppose Cadillac is going to have give it 600+ horses? Maybe the v12 is coming out early... Now that would be a surprise.
My service manager @ my dealership said the STS will be removed from the Cadillac fleet because of the increase in size of the CTS. Supposedly Caddy will also build a new DTS car that is rear wheel drive to take on the 7 series BMW @ the S class mercedes.
With the new CAFE standards now on the visible horizon, I don't think you'll see a lot of engineering time plowed into bigger horsepower motors. The CTS-V and the STS-V are different machines for different drivers and I don't think there will be a big push to make sure the STS makes more power than the CTS. If the push is to outperform everything in the price/size class, Caddy will have to contend with the new Nissan Skyline GTR, and I don't see how they can do it.
The STS is a iron first in a velvet glove, nicely placed 75% of the way up between a Jag R-type and an M5. I don't find the additional performance in the M5 to be anything remotely useable in the real world. If I want pure performance I'll drive my shifter kart, which can stomp any M5 for a whole lot less money.
