Cadillac Forums: please help the new blood with mods????
hey guys wassup? i'm looking to buy either a cts-v or sts-v here soon. i want to know what mods are availbe and where i can get them for the sts-v. like intake, exhaust, pulley kits, programming. what do you recommend? any info is appreciated. thanks!!
;If you want to modify a car you are best off with a CTS-V. for the engine it has the LS2 or LS6 (tons of after market stuff) and there is much more available.
If you get the STS you will be fighting to get a cat-back for it. Great car but don't plan to modify it.
Also it only came in Auto so that was a deal breaker for me.
Wow this is a dead forum, good thing Florian is here to liven things up. CTS forum is hoping, Jim keeps the V forum going, but I think this forum averages about 1.5 post's/day.
Need to go to the CTS forum and stir things up a bit...
Either way you will enjoy whatever you decide to get, both fun cars to drive.
Need the Noob's to keep thing's alive, Some of us aren't too bad.
I respect the car and I bought it to drive and modify in a good way. Still on my original Rear and it's as quiet as a church mouse. But the Headers and the Cat back make it so I don't even turn on the stereo anymore.
Man, you guys talk like a couple of old farts and your making me feel old now, thanks...

I think we all learned the CTS-V lesson....hence our STS-V choice. The CTS-V is a complete ass-ache. Its fast as hell and fun to mod, but it doesnt like getting modded...just ask Chef. Hes had more issues than I had. I spent about 20K in motor mods, and got less than that in trade...but it was a weight lifted off my shoulders when it was gone. Its a good platform to work with, but it doesnt respond to mods like Id expect it to...meaning, you always find a new squeak, rattle, noise, whatever after youve modded. That, to me, is a pain in the ass.
I was considering some of the D3 mods, but with all the issues people are having with them, I'm having second thoughts about that too. The only thing people have done thus far that seem to present no issues is a custom tune. And, I'm still waiting on Corsa.....

I have only done some mild Mod's and so far I have had no major problems. Not sure if they have fixed a few things in 07 that your's and other's are missing or just flat out luck.
No whines, No rattles, Responsive, Handling is quite Neutral, Looks sharp....
Sorry to hear you and others have had soo much greif but it is mechanical, electrical, and of course software so many things can go wrong. I came into this knowing that it could get ugly but so far I have been in a sweet ride with no major issues.
It is quite possible that I am not as picky but I don't think that's the case.
Anyways, the CTS-V is a great car for me and I could not see myself trading up to a STS-V unless I could get one cheap and pull the N* and the Slushbox and install the LS platform with a T56 backing it up. This would be the ultimate ride to me.
Hooked on the LS so it's either a Camaro, Corvette, or the CTS-V. Since I have the V this is what I will mod and play with.
I hope I don't have 1/2 the problems you and Chef had, don't want to get that bitter.
