Hi Velocity,

I know exactly what is happening because I had the same problem.

I had my air filter to far up on the intake and it was causing a rich condition. Loosen the clamp and slide the air filter far enough down so it is resting on the very end. So you want the clamp resting on the intake tube lip (edge and then up the width of the clamp) or as close as possible.

Once I made the change the problem went away.

Re: help-engine power reduced

Thanks, I'll try that also, as I think I don't have it resting on the lip.

Re: help-engine power reduced

I will try it right now.

So now are you running with the box hooked up and everything seems to be working well? I am not sure how that would make such an impact. I hope it works though. Thanks for the tip!

Same here. Filter was pushed up. Pulled it down so it is resting on the end. Re-Connected box, drove about 10 miles. Light came on. Looks like thats not it. Got a code of P0172. I'm going to send it off to Craig and see what he says.

I don't have the D3 tune box but I have their Air Intake. I was getting the same code with the intake. Once I moved the filter down it went away and never came back.

Is the tube that allows air to escape connected good on the intake?

Did you recently buy your car maybe a 2008? If you have a new car GM might of changed the OS up on the ECM and D3's box might not be compatible.

As I said before I was getting codes with their Air Intake because I had the filter to far up. I got sluggish performance and the tranny was slow to shift etc. I would get hard downshifts as well.

If you guys do not get codes with the black box off it is pretty apparent what is causing the problem. Get your money back and get a tune from Vector Motorsports or someone similar.

Re: help-engine power reduced

I've driven 200+ miles with the box disconnected and no codes. After reconnecting the box, the code trips within 10-20 miles of driving. It is definently the box causing the codes, hopefully D3 can figure out the problem now that they know the DTC so I won't have to get a refund, but that might be our only option. My car is a 2007 purchased in Feb.

Re: help-engine power reduced

I drove my car this morning and it acted like a total different car! Much improved throttle response!!

I will drive it some more and see if the light comes on.
