By the time they finish paying for repairs, rental car and diminished value, it would certainly be less to total it. |

(Or was stabilitrack asleep at the switch?) Fortunately for me, most of these occasions were on a skid pad at a driver school. I caught the passenger air bag AWOL once: my car was still new to me so I was checking the bells and whistles including the passenger airbag indicator light. It was Off even though there was a regulation-sized adult passenger in in the right seat. I switched the car off and re-started it, and the passenger airbag came on. This fault has not recurred in the 18 months since. |

When the shop starts the repair they will find more damage. The key will be only so much can be fixed & will they cut corners ? When it's all put back together will the system failure return ?
The insurance co is being cheap..
Just wondering what the temperature was before impact ? Combination of rain & cold temps may have contributed. |

I had gm come out plug into it and get the last 5 sec of data from the black box under the seat took it back to research and devlopment and found no vault in the system pickup was a total loss nothing very little was good only body piece good was the tailgate. only drivetrain component good was the rearend. I think gm has a problem with there airbag systems it not the first pickup that the bags didnt deploy. |

My car also upon passing a truck surged left and struct the truck causing my car to spin out of control and roll over on its roof. Car was a total lost.
Seems odd that both cars surged left out of control stabilty track was on ? |

If the side and curtain airbags would not deploy in a side impact like that, then it certainly makes you wonder if they ever would. Not good... |

I thought side impact airbags were for someone basically t-boning you to keep your head from snapping straight into the windows.

The right side air bags will not deploy if there is no right front seat passenger. The left side air bags will not deploy in a right side collision. |

Everyone should make sure that it lets you know the passenger seat air bag IS activated when a regulation sized adult is seated there. Otherwise it(right front air bag or right side curtain) WILL NOT deploy during a crash. |

There was no passengers in the car only me. However when i taked to a tech from GM he didnt mention there having to be a passenger sitting in the side for the side airbag to go off rather he said the angle of the impact did not cause sensors to enguage and activate the airbags which is crazy seeing how much damage the car took (final cost close to $13000). The information from the box indicated that the airbag system was fully operational also... Now that the car is fixed...I am a little concerned weather or not the airbags will go off next time something happens. my family currently owns 4 gm vehicles and we really like them all so i hope what their tech was telling me was the case.... |

Now that it is fixed, can you tell any difference in the car? Is it back to the way it was before? |

There was no damage to the engine so no odd noise commin from there but if anything arises ill be sure post | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
