Even if the LC3 would fit (it won't), it's a horrible choice for that car. LS1 is probably the best bet for a smallblock V8, based on weight and potential to rev with the right setup. There's nothing "outplayed" about a combination that actually WORKS. |

And by out played I mean that every hot rod or custom fab car has a LS1 under the hood "wow what a surprise". Everybody uses the same power plant and to me that's not original any more, that's common. |

1) anyone know specs on how much a LC3 weighs W/With out the tranny. Including accessories.
2) does anyone know of a donor car?
I am thinking I will need an entire running engine and tranny including exhaust, including the cats. Engine management will have to come from the STS-V. The best option would get a complete car from the driver doors forward. for wiring harness, IC, instrument panel and even the radio and Navi system.

Have you even considered measurements of the LC3 yet? Do you have a donor S2K to work with? And without a doubt, the LC3 is wider, taller and heavier than the LS1. I'll let you figure that one out. |

That's why I am asking. Hence this thread. If I could get a foam LC3 for mock up that would be the best thing. BUT for some reason I don't know of any out there. Donor S2k's are not hard to find. There are 2 for sale with blown engines. The rest of the donor S2K parts would be parted out and sold to the S2k community. Again, the reason I started this thread was to see if it was feasable to even start such a project. Starting with the size and weight of the engine. If what you say is true then I will have to scrap the LC3 idea and go buy a Ariel Atom or the likes for the track/street. |

I have already taken my S2K apart to the point it down to a rolling chasis, so I am familiar with what is involved there. What I haven't dove fully into is the LC3. Here is a pic of my sheet metal work. In tis pic I invented a unique way to roll fenders. http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...n/IMG_1115.jpg
You will notice the flawless execution of gaining maximum wheel clearance.
Truthfully this is what happened when I came out to find a Rotty hanging off the front of my car. $3,000 of damage to the front end. |

Most of the salvage yards do not even know what a V series car is. They only show the 2 standard engines in their computers and don't even show a V option. So most likely if they have one, it's listed under the 4.6 V8 option in their computers and they don't know the value of what they have. IF I can find one I'll bet I can get it as cheap as a standard STS V8 4.6. But that will take me walking almost every lot to find the car myself. UGH! |

F | I had hoped to get the instrument cluster, tranny, ECU, harness, IC core / plumbing, maniforls / cats, and navi unit. That way I wouldn't have to try and re-engineer how it runs. All I would have to do is make the engine fit, instrument panel fit the new dash and cut a hole in the dash for the navi and hook everything up. Basically make it plug and play as much as I could. Maybe it will be easier to find a wrecked Z06 for a donor....... |
