Ok, I tested mine just now. If you press the TC button and hold it at ANY time for at least 5 seconds (I counted 6 seconds for mine) you get the message on the screen that says "stability system off" and also the icon for the TC off displays. That message stays on the display until you either turn the system back on or you manually change what is displayed. You do not have to press the TC button twice first before holding, you can jump right in and hold it for 5 seconds and turn off the stability.

I noticed a similar limitation in our non-V STS V8 this week.

First, with TCS off, the car allowed the rear to be stepped out, but you could still feel the STBTK kicking in and keeping a pretty tight reign on things.

I checked out the forum posts, and then disabled both. With TCS and STBK off (same way, holding TCS button down 5 seconds at any time), the car will swing into lurid powerslides coming out of corners.

No competition mode for the non-V though, and it has to work a little harder with much less power to step out the rear.

Too cool wonder if its the same for the '00-'03 STS's. Mike
