Talking Dealer Cost on the Certifed Preowned Caddy

I am about to buy my STS. Does anyone know the dealer cost for the Cadillac Certifed Preowned program? What was the cheapest someone got the dealer to add it on?
I can get 5.9% and 6 year 100,000 bumper to bumper for those who do not know what the CPO program includes.
    Thanks in advance.

Re: Dealer Cost on the Certifed Preowned Caddy

$1000 is the amount dealers pay Cadillac to certify a car. However, if it is done properly there is more cost involved in certifying a Cadillac depending on the mileage and condition of the car when they get it.

    1. All maintenance should be brought up to date. Oil change(synthetic for STS) air filter, cabin filter and throttle body service if over 30k.

2.Tires have to be at least 5/32's of tread with even wear and matching brand.

    3. Brakes have to have at least 50% pad left (Front pads are 12mm new and rear 10mm- so 6mm front and 5mm rear) or they must be replaced with factory GM pads.

    4. All dings, dents and scratches must be repaired as well as interior imperfections(within reason).

    5. The vehicle must have all keys, fobs, books, manuals, and Navigation discs if equipped.

    6. The vehicle must be detailed.

On a vehicle with 30-40K miles this could cost an additional $1000-$2000. On a low mileage vehicle it could be minimal.

Kelley Blue Book values certification at $3000

There are rates as low as 3.9% right now if you negotiate.

Wow, thanks alot. That was exactly what I was looking for.
This STS I am looking at only has 17K miles on the clock. I figured about $1K but I was not sure...
Where did you find this out?
    Thanks

I am the pre-owned manager at Ed Morse Cadillac in Tampa.

If you post the VIN # I can verify the certification and give you the warranty start date.

Since you are a manager at a dealership...

I am wondering... if I bought a used CTS from a private party, do you think a Cadillac dealership would certify it for me if I paid the $1000? I'd be willing to also pay for the brake pads, new tires, etc. Whatever was deemed necessary.

Do you think I'd be treated well? Or more like a bastard child customer?

I ask because it's sometimes hard to find the exact color and option package you want, and the right year/mileage if you're only looking at already CPO'd cars.

    Hey Todd (tampasrx),

I just recently bought the Stealth Gray STS from your dealer and I have a question. Is it possible to entend the length of time of the warranty after the six years?

By the way, the car is great!

"Certified" must be defined differently by different dealerships, because my 06 STS was "Certified" at the dealer I bought from in Jacksonville, and the car had minor scratches, dings, was missing key fob #1, was not detailed, and center ashtray would not open. They tried to sell it to me that way. My local dealer decided to fix all of the above... otherwise there was not going to be any deal.

A vehicle has to be in the dealer's inventory in order for them to certify it. The only way it could be done is for them to buy it from you, certify it, and re-sell it back to you.

GM currently does not have a program like that. However when the warranty expires you could get an extended warranty at that time.

My 2003 Seville SLS has 42800 on the odometer and my warrany runs out March 3. What kind of deal can I get on an extended warranty for 24K and 2 years added on. I want a GMPP and bumper to bumper.

Re: Dealer Cost on the Certifed Preowned Caddy

Take this for what it is worth. The finance manager, a friend of mine, at the local caddy dealership said his cost was $2300 to match the Cadillac CPO warranty. Cadillac CPO is the only way to go, not to mention the warranty is less than $1000 given you can get lower interest rates.

In some states(Florida for example) the price of an extended warranty is regulated by the insurance comiision. Which means the dealer cant raise or lower the price of the warranty. Every one would pay the same amount for the same warranty. There are several other companies that offer warranties. However few have as good of coverage as the GMPP. But even the GMPP is not as good as a CPO.
