    2007 STS V8-----Thinking hard

I currently have an 05 CTS with pretty much every option besides the V stuff of course. Recently a 2007 STS with 46K for $12,000 has caught my eye and I want to trade to get it. I would like to get some honest opinions on this, has nav, etc.

its a v8 and pretty dang loaded. I still owe a little on mine but I think I can meet them with what I owe. I don't really want to come off of a few thousand but man I want that car. CTS feels too cramped leg wise,I kind of bought it as a rush because I thought I was having a child , no child lol.

I went from the CTS to STS and it is night and day but I bought my STS from a local dealer it might be a V6 but it still has the pickup that you need but the pre08 model year V6 is straight out of the CTS, but with post 08 they give it direct injection witch is why I bought the V6 in the 09. I would buy yours you will have the northstar V8.

    Re: 2007 STS V8-----Thinking hard

The V8 STS is a great car. Starting in 2007, many V8 with the new 6-speed/OD trans got the 2.73 rear end (RPO GU2 - AXLE REAR, 2.73 RATIO) and get almost as good of mileage as the V6 models and the pedal is a lot deeper; 30% more torque than even the DI V6.

They do vary a lot by trim-level, though. For example, some members do not prefer MRC, etc. It is best to drive several before going 'all in.' Around here, $12k will buy an updated model (2008 or better). Personally, I prefer the older interior, more wood; and exterior, no Ford-like fake fender-vents.

    Opinions vary.

    Have fun!

I agree with above. I'm not a fan of any exterior changes from 07 to 08. 05-06 did not have stitching on the door panals and that leather part typically looks loose in those model years. 07 is definitely my ideal model year.

    Re: 2007 STS V8-----Thinking hard

I'm not sure I understand Boat's comment about door panel stitching. I see no difference between my 2006 & my wife's 2007; although the 2006 has IL3 - PREMIUM TUSCANY LEATHER SEATS which may upgrade the door panels and both have the B20 - WOOD TRIM INSERTS upgrade.

I do believe the Platinum package has a few extras but I don't think it actually exceeds the equipment of a fully 'loaded' 1SG. The factory spoiler was deleted from the AWD 1SG after 2006 or so. In later years you could get the V brakes & 6-lug wheels; I don't think those were an option until '08 or so.

    Re: 2007 STS V8-----Thinking hard

Personally, I'm not a fan of the pre-2008 appearance for a few reasons. Regardless, to each their own. I can't speak to previous model years but in 2008 the door panel leather was not stitched if the car had the IL3 RPO code. These cars (with IL3/non-stitched) are also the ones with the Tuscany leather. IL2 had the stitching and is the standard level leather.

Go for it. My friend has a loaded 05 CTS and the STS feels like much more car to me. Nothing wrong with the CTS but I like my car much better. He does get better mpg. I average 16/23 with mine.
