Got a weird problem that seems to pop up every now and then... When starting from a stop, there are times where pressing the gas pedal seems to do nothing, and then it suddenly "catches" and takes off. It's almost like the engine lugs for a second, and then it'll take off perfectly normal. Usually this happens from a dead stop in drive, though there are times that it'll happen in reverse as well.
Anyone have any idea for some obvious things to check? Tore the world apart to replace the transmission around January or February, and haven't had any issues until about two weeks ago when this started. I don't think it's transmission related, but who knows...
This is a classic description of a sticky throttle. These cars are 'drive-by-wire' so it could be the throttle pedal, wiring or throttle body itself. (Wiring was an issue on some early V8's - mine!) Clean the throttle body & replace it if the butterfly has worn a groove in it.
On some engines it is possible to make adjusts to get some more life out of a worn throttle body. I've never read of a forum member describing success doing so.
The throttle body did look pretty gummy, so i cleaned it up. I'll hook my scan tool up to it for the next few days and see if maybe the throttle pedal isn't sending the proper signals. Do the sensors on the pedal have any kind of adjustment?
I also noticed the long term fuel trim is at -10% on one bank, and -8.2% on the other... Does anyone have any idea what might cause such a low fuel trim?
