    Park light bulb

    Hi Guys!

Where you have park light bulb?
AllData says is in the same place as turning signal, which is easy to replace.
I have RHD (UK, european) model end park bulbs are in the headlights.
As I know there is only one possibilitie to replace the bulb...remove bumper and headlight.
Do I relay have to do it in this way for parking bulbs as well? It will happen 2-3 times a year ...

    Re: Park light bulb

We've never had to do ours, but it's reputed to be just the bumper cover; not as bad as it looks. The headlights stay in place.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking. In my case I have to take out headlights. I didn't find any clue to change that bulbs.

    ...yes...I just changed the little parking light/position light/city light/peanut light-bulbs myself...
...the bumper cover has to be removed...and than loosen (and remove) the headlamps...
...there was no way to change the bulbs without headlamp loosening or removal...headlampwaschers, the rh (export) auto leveling module on the side door, connectors, the extra/additional wiring and whatever made it impossible to reach (and grab) the bulbs through the little headlamps "side doors"...opening the side doors without headlamp removal was also almost impossible...
...but the bumper cover removal was fairly easy...

...this is the export headlamp...with the additional autoleveling module on the side door... (on the picture the back door is loosen)
...to reach...and change the little bulb the side cover has to be removed...(the bulb is placed behind the W5W lettering)

    Thanks!

Yes bumper removing is easy to do.
But the bloody bulb... I couldn't get it by my fingers....

I'm just interesting interesting. You said export model has extra auto leveling. What's does it mean? US doesn't have it? What the different is?

    Re: Park light bulb

Export lamps have a little motor and that black module attached to the housing that continue to adjust the angle of the lights based on how level the car is. You go down a steep hill and it adjusts your lights so the low beam is higher. You go up a steep hill and it goes down as to not blind oncoming traffic. If you are pulling a heavy load that the suspension cannot compensate for it lowers the beams.

    Re: Park light bulb

It means the headlights level themselves with grade differences...Say you're coming over a hill, the headlights will lower instead of shining into the night sky...Original U.S. registered STS's don't have this feature but exports do as I believe it is mandated by the European Government.

    Park light bulb

Some domestic cars have it but it's not common (there are no STS cars with it that aren't export). I've driven one of the first year Chrysler 300C and it had auto leveling HIDs.

With it adjusting the beam based on the angle of the car, it also compensates for squat (nose pointing up in acceleration) and dive (nose pointing down during braking.)

It points down during squat to prevent blinding of drivers ahead and points up during dive to keep the road ahead well lit.

    OK guys thanks
I though that auto leveling for HID is also required in USA.
So cars with HID but not auto leveling are verry anoying at night for oncoming traffic Isn't it?

Not nearly as annoying as all of the reflector (non-projector) equipped cars/trucks driving around with HID conversion kits in them...

    Re: Park light bulb

All US STS have load-leveling systems which mitigate this concern.

But the load leveling won't adjust for diving and squatting. As it takes a while to adjust the rear suspension.

    Re: Park light bulb

Correct. The US DOT considers that adequate. Even the active adjusting ones aren't perfect.

With the correct headlight aiming & projectors, they probably are right.
