Isn't that why we have big back seats? I sure as hell don't have kids to put back there...

    Re: 2005 STS maintenance

Ho! on the contrary 1badcadsts, I had more space in the back of my 2002 Buick Lesabre TO NOT PUT KIDS, but they were velvet seats not leather and that's how I made them... so sorry

    ----------

Seriously I'm proud of my kids, my son is a computer specialist and my daughter wants to enrol in the Royal Canadian Air Force... I think I've missed some thing in the back of my Buick, damn Buick... HA HA!

    ----------

Now lets go back to my 2005 STS maintenance post, I've called the closest dealer today and ask the service guy to check if there was any recall or TSB on it (he asked me for the serial number) and he answered NO... no TSB and no recalls for my car...

I had the oil changed as soon as possible when I gain property of the car, it was done at 79 371 miles, and now its at 80 393 miles, the computer say 92% left, I've driven mostly the highway all I want to know is...

is there a chart some where on the INTERNET that will indicate me if the computer is indicating the correct oil duration or not, maybe the ex-owner reset the computer occasionally in order to NOT DO THE OIL CHANGE...

    Re: 2005 STS maintenance

Well if you look at the tsb it actually refers to 2007-2008 so the tsb wouldn't apply to yours. That being said, it likely should have. What that means is you should either 1. be extremely disciplined with checking your oil frequently or 2. Change your oil every 3-4k miles (basically ignoring the oil life monitor since we know that in later years that following the olm caused problems, forcing GM to adjust the olm to count down quicker through that recall.)

    Re: 2005 STS maintenance

I changed the oil in my 3.6 CTS every 5k religiously. 3-4k is a bit extreme when running synthetic, I could've probably went to 6-7k no problem but 5k was a good number

    Re: 2005 STS maintenance

    Hey thanks...

I will follow your recommendations, there is something else that I noticed, when I first filled up the tank the day I got the Cady, the autonomy indicated 450Km, but now two weeks later, it indicates 750Km on a full tank, my mechanic said that the ex-owner probably drove in town all the time, and you do mostly highway, the computer readjusts it self, so I hope it will do the same for the oil duration ha ha!, but don't worry if at 5k it still say 50% I will do the oil change any way...

Catch ya tomorrow guys, It's happy hour tonight

When my OEM battery was 5 years old and started to exhibit a few symptoms of age, I bought an inexpensive but beefy jump-pack on sale. About 2 years later, I bought an Optima 1078 (Type 78 w/o top posts).

I like having the jump-pack. I can give friends a jump and not worry. I also have quiet portable power.

    Re: 2005 STS maintenance

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for the answers. Good news, I fixed the AIR BAG warning thanks to Guy.Seminerio, you were correct, it was the connector under the passenger side seat, it was corroded (just surface corrosion) due to I think was some sort of soft drink spill, so I took out my old can of BLUE STUFF CONTACT CLEANER (discontinued) I only use it on priceless electronics and cleaned it and BAM! it's fixed, the only problem is that this stuff stinks ha ha! so I wiped off as much as I could, opened the sun roof and all 3 windows (still haven't fixed the rear passenger one) for a few hours and everything is just dandy!!

Now my next project is to set up a USB LM327 OBDII interface (50$), and with my Linux laptop and the help of PYOBD I want to play with the info I can get from the Cady's computers...

The software is already installed, I'm waiting for the mail man with the interface I'm gonna have a close eye on my baby's sensors ha ha!

Till next time..., A la prochaine..., Hasta la proxima...!

    Re: 2005 STS maintenance

    Hi guys

I was looking up the prices of a new updated navigation DVD, and WOW! they run for 200$, so I quickly made a copy of the only original old 2005 one that came with the car V.1.0, the copy works perfectly so I shelved the original and gave my son a mission, to find a 2013 update on the net... hop he finds one haha!

All you need to copy the DVD is a good two layer DVD writer, Brasero (Linux disc burner), and that's all folks!

    cheers!

    Re: 2005 STS maintenance

Ya TargetSTS that will be handy when they build a bridge a cross the Bering sea

In Europe the DVD is only 40$, That's what piss me a bit, does that mean that Europeans lose their way more often than Americans?? (usually price goes down with higher demands)... or does it ??? they UNDERSTOOD in Europe that it's just a toy, they all use there phones for a GPS ages before us for crying out loud... why don't navigation.com drop the prices on the DVDs they would probably sell more, I know I know... Usually people with Cadys are loaded...

Any hoo! I just want to see if I can torrent one of the net (GM copyrights/security challenge), cause I don't really need it, I usually use Google map and street view or my phone...

Don't worry, if I succeed I won't share the knowledge with no one (copyrights)...

    Have a nice evening...

try to search the disc at ebay. There are many offers on them.
Or maybe someone from USA can make an image of dvd and upload to torrents.
