    shift to park??

hello Cadillac owners ......everytime I put my car in park the error comes up sayings shift to park the car won't stop beeping this problem has been happening for a few months and seems to be getting worse usually I play around with the shifter and the accessory button/push start.....but this week every time I go to park my car I spend 20 minutes in it trying to make it stop beeping

I've read other peoples saying the shifter assembly or the linkage??

is there a button underneath the shifter that I can play with? anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this??

end of this is happening to alot of people why isn't there a recall??????????

Recalls are for safety items, not for PIA items for owners too stingy to hire somebody to fix them.

This is a super easy fix, slide under the car and look on the passenger side of the shifter, the linkage is right there and it is a one bolt adjustment. You will kick yourself for waiting so long.

It's the thing in the console. It's marked P R D (and 4 if 05-07 v6 or 05-06 v8 )... You touch it every day when you SHIFT the car from park to drive it.

RTFPost badcad, he means where on the underside is the shift linkage located. It has happened to me once or twice, would be nice to know where it is.

    Re: shift to park??

I posted a thread a couple years back showing the photos from GM talking about adjusting it.

Here is a link to it.

And someone asking where the shifter is would illicit the same type of response from many members. We aren't mind readers.

Oh I did. And he didn't once ask where the linkage is. Be asked what the shifter was.
