CoolReplacing ignition switch on 2006 Cadillac STS

I have been having electrical problems lately , battery discharging and car won't start. Keep getting jump starts etc etc... Well I'm at the point now where a diagnostic has given me the code to replace ignition switch and the shop that gave me te codes says that this is dealership work. So here is where I stand today... I am going to have my car towed to a GM dealership in the morning, and tell them to replace my ignition switch. My question to all of you is Does anyone know of a requirement to have the switch re-programmed by technician after switch is replaced? The switch cost no more than $100.00 and that's the high price, does anyone know of the approx. labor time ? I am also having the battery replaced also, I estimate that my cost should be upwards and around $ 350.00 max does this sound correct? Before dealing with the dealerships I like to have a good estimate of whats being done because a lot of times they just tell you anything. Any and all help is appreciated.

    THANKS ALL !!!

A generous amout of time to replace is 30 minutes, but most facilities will charge a minimum of 1 hour. There is no programming required. What code(s) have led you to believe this is necessary? This would be a very uncommon problem.

2005-2007 STS ignition switch tended to crack. Mine was replaced under warranty. The new design is noticeably more sensitive. Quite often, after driving my wife's car, I'll press the off (lower) end of the switch briefly enough to shut off my car (by habit) and her car keeps running.
