First time Cadillac owner. 2005 STS

Just wanted to drop a line here and introduce myself. As I move into and through middle age I finally got my first Cadillac.
2005 STS, V6, White, with tan leather interior.

I actually bought it in Fort Worth, TX in Oct 2013. It had just under 56,000 miles on it when I got it.

I am the second owner. First owner's name was Judy from the dash info haha.

I don't drive it everyday. I drive it when I take my wife out for dinner and "special" events.

Right now I have 56,800 miles on it.

It is an absolute dream to drive and I love it!!!!

I used all the great info on this forum to help me in my search and in my purchase. You folks are a true wealth of information. I truly appreciate all the expertise here.

Here are the pics from the dealer's ad on Autotrader.

Nice ride! I have an 05 STS4 N* with 79k. Same color combo too! Great minds think alike. Enjoy!

Thanks! I have to say the white is a nice color. The V6 sounds great when it is running so I can only imagine how awesome your N* sounds like.

Here in Texas, I try to avoid the darker colors. Gets kinds hot here at times

Congratulations on your STS! I also have an 05 V6 with the tan interior. Mine is dark blue. The tan is nice, except it gets dirty easily. Make sure to keep your eye on the oil level. Enjoy!

Good looking car, I had the same car but in blue. I sold it with over 200,000 miles on it but as stated above, keep up with the oil level, that is extremely important with that engine!

    Nicely bought!

I have her twin sister, though with the V8/nav/1SG stuff.

    Love the car.

Thought I wanted a silver 1SF, then I saw this 1SG, while the 2nd owner was touring Westway Ford's used parking lot over on 183, and we struck a deal right there, in front of the used car salesman.

Welcome and congrats BBQ, you picked a fine ride for your first.
And I am a no-nav guy too, just an old dog who likes looking out the windows.

Ugh. But doesn't staring out the windows while you drive distract you from texting!?!

The only thing distracting my window view is the fair-haired shapely types.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Also thanks for the oil warning. My plan is to change oil every 5k miles at the dealer no matter what my oil life monitor says.

    Is this a decent plan?

I like to keep my cars for a long time.

Thats a safe plan for your car. Some of the first gen CTS model 3.6s had a funny oil life monitor that measured incorrectly, I am sure you can find info about it here. Mine was re-calibrated before I bought it by the dealer, but is all comes down to how you drive and how your car runs.
Mobil 1 is not cheap, 6 quarts and a filter gets near $60 if you do it yourself.
Look at the ads to the upper right, Rippys the has filters cheap.
Your on your own for the oil. Never cheap.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic in my car. It is not cheap but worth the added lubrication and longer life. Keep in mind, we are driving a Cadillac! Not a Honda!

    Added lubrication??

Might want to look into the advantages of synthetic oils.

And FWIW, there are Honda engines that require synthetic, and GM/Cadillac cars that do not.

That's the same dealer I got my V from. Congrats on the ride.

Not really. Just follow the OLM and use the recommended oil in it. The OLM is programmed to monitor that oil. When it gets to 20-25%, change it then. No need to throw out good oil. Just keep the level up. Happy motoring!
