Does the little orange light in the button light up when you press it?

I just bought an 08 that had the same problem. Thankfully I noticed before I bought and the dealer fixed. They had to replace the wheel.

OP, if the indicator light on the button turns on but the wheel doesn't heat up you're in the market for a new wheel unfortunately.

I'll bet you can take the covering off the wheel, fix the broken heating element, and then take it to a good shoe shop to have it stitched back together. With the number of failures, I'm surprised somebody hasn't started up a home business doing just that.

I'm sure it's doable dkoz, I may look into that solution if/when mine fails. No way am I dropping $700+ to have warm hands for the few minutes it takes for the car to heat up. Gloves are a lot cheaper.

Don't get me wrong, the feature is nice to have. This January has been the coldest MN has seen in the last 30 years, believe me, that heated wheel has gotten a work out. You just won't find me dropping the coin to replace the entire wheel if/when it fails just to have a heated steering wheel again.

Of course you have heated hand grips on your snowmobile.

This is just one more way that this car spoils you for most other cars. Even in sub-zero weather, I don't fumble with gloves. If a snowstorm strikes during the day, remote-start clears the windows and warms the car for me. When I buy a few extra items when shopping for dinner on a stormy night, I don't fumble for the keys or trunk release. I don't even have to remember to lock up!
