I have someone who will make them if we get enough interest. It would work by hijacking the stock nav screen. As soon as you put it in reverse it would default to the camera image and return to normal once back in drive.
The tadi brothers site shows navtool gear in the pictures they provide.
I've been in contact with navtool and they don't have a compatible unit for the STS that does what we need to have for a backup camera.
They are willing to make one. They just need to borrow a nav unit.
Got this in my email from Tadi Bros... Think it's this simple now? thoughts?
Hello Sir,
We can outfit the Cadillac STS in a wide array of ways. The part you are inquiring about is called a module, it can be installed behind any STS that came with a navigation system, if it doesn't have navigation we will have to get a monitor for on the dash, mirror, or visor. After the module you will need a camera to project off of the screen, I would suggest going with one of our license plate cameras for the Cadillac STS.
For the module to be installed behind the navigation screen, it takes a few hours to do, however once it is hooked up it will look like it came from Cadillac. Everything will be the same in the vehicle except, when you put it in reverse you will see a camera on the in dash screen. If you would like a camera to be on all the time we can absolutely accommodate that with one of our systems through an alternate monitor.

sounds too good to be true....
if they can do it sweet. I've been trying to work with navtool to make us one but they've not replied to my emails in a while.
Yeah I do fine with the parking sensors to be honest. The camera would be nice to have. Although I like the idea of the front camera as well. I wonder when the front camera would activate? I guess when you hit a switch?
The only way to hack the STS nav video feed would be through the screen ribbon. I see no plug and play option in the back for these. There is the video input through the back plug but simply putting it in reverse would not activate the aux input.
Guy's our man!! I Can't do it right now, just had a nasty skiing accident (broke knee and thumb) so when I am back on my feet, I may try it... That's $320 out of my beer budget however... :suspense:
I wonder if they might have some references they could share. People that have installed this on a 2005-2011 STS. Maybe I'll pose the question...
Yes pose the question. You guys gotta quit name dropping! Right now I'm good with the sensors. If one of you gets it and finds it to be an amazing thing I might go in. Honestly the newer style key fob has me more interested at this point but luda's post about frequencies and MHz has me a little discouraged.
The new style fob (introduced during the 2007 model year) works fine with my 2006. Matching a copy of the mechanical key is a bit of light metal-work. I do find the new style fob consumes CR2032's a bit faster, but the range of the remote start still approaches 100 yards.
I made a massively informative post and no one bothered to sticky it... but the second you call someone a moron who clearly is the mods are all up your ass... go figure that one...
The SLS uses what appears to be the Escalade 'supernav' which looks really similar to ours but is likely not compatible due to firmware differences between them.
They "talk" in a different bit count on the GMLan network (escalade uses a longer chain compared to ours) not to mention the driver preferences are controlled in our nav system but they are not in the supernav.
I've seen the SLS version of the navigation show up on aliexpress for a few thousand dollars on occasion ... but chances are they aren't wired the same as ours and likely don't speak our 11 bit GMLan either.
Nice pics thanks! What made GM create a close to entirely different technology base and not sell it in the US? I want one!! I'm also digging the headlamps! The Nav looks like my wife's Saturn Outlook (Traverse, Acadia) Nav too.
Look into what the SLS priced at. If you think GM didn't sell a lot of STS's then consider how many fewer SLS's they would likely have sold here. Way too much money. Really, the STS was overpriced IMO.
Damn!
We got ripped off!!
That rear infotainment system is badass!!! And the updated interior is sweet!!!!
I would almost give up mine being a V for the nice goodies!!...almost...
