    Vehicle Personalization System Error and Seats not working

    Hello Cadillac Owners and Service Reps,

    I have a 2005 Cadillac STS V6 Engine. Car was working fine until my battery died and the car had 4-5 boosts until I switched to a new battery to a new AC Delco battery.

    Issues noticed since then (All issues started at the same time):
    -------------------------
    1- Driver Power Seat Does not move
    2- Steering Column can not be adjusted
    3- Heated seats both driver and passenger do not work. When pressing the botton, the light indicator does not turn on
    4- My clock sometimes freezes
    5- If i go to check out my personalization settings I get: Vehicle Personalization System Error.
    6 - Factory auto starter not working, not sure if this started at the same time


    I did not find a common fuse for most of theseI passed by the dealership, and the manager there suggested that I reprogram the BCM (Body Control Module) - 60-120$.

    Anyone here has encountered similar issues?

    Check your DPM Fuse its in one of the rear fuse blocks under the rear seats I can't remember which one it was. Change that out and i fixed it by not having my seat sitting really low and it hasn't done it again. Hopefully this solves your issue but if not i would go to your dealer and get it checked and or fixed again.

    I have not fixed it yet. That is what the service manager suggested it could be. He sounded really positive, that he said, I should try that first, before wasting money on a diagnosis.

    I will check the fuse first and see if it solves the issue. Thank you.

    I checked the DPM fuse and it is good. Any other suggestions before that 120$ visit to the dealership?

    Check ALL of the electrical connections under the seats, make sure they are nice and tight. Snug them up and disconnect the battery for a 5 minutes or just touch the two cables together after you disconnect them to reset the computer.

    I disconnected the battery terminals and touched them for a good 30 seconds. Same symtoms occur.

    Questions:
    1- The date on the car reset, however, oil life, trip A, trip B, etc.. did not. Does this mean the car did not reset?
    2- What other steps can anyone recommend for troubleshooting.

    I have an appointment at the dealership on dec. 3. Anything earlier would be appreciated.

    No, that was long enough for the capacitance to discharge, you did reset.

    An update for those who are curious or may benefit from this information. So I went to the dealership today, they checked the BCM programming and it was upto date. The issue was an electric wire in the door which had snapped. The wire has been replaced. 1 hour to find the issue and 1 hour to fix it.

    Car options are working perfectly now. Always never dissappointed with Cadillac Service. Reminds me why this is my fourth!
