    Aggressive Tread Pattern Tires

Hello all! Once again I come to you for some help. I am looking for the MEANEST tread patterned-tires I can get for my STS-4 with the 17" polished rims. I already built a skid plate for my car but the tires dont allow me to keep up with the big boys. Any help is appreciated.

Skid plate? Aggressive tread pattern? As in off road???

If you're talking about grip for street driving, the tread pattern won't tell you much if anything about the tires' traction.

Good luck finding a "truck/SUV" off-road type tire in a size that will fit those rims, won't be easy if even possible.

An AWD sedan, which I'm assuming isn't lifted, on 17" rims...

I'm assuming the "big boys" are the really "hardcore" offroaders in stock Rav 4's?

I'm sorry, I just have to clarify something.

There's a difference between going "off of the road:

    And "OFF ROAD":

But in any case, like curt said, probably going to be impossible to find an AT/mud tire that will fit your car.

    Re: Aggressive Tread Pattern Tires

Even if you can find an 'aggressive' tire you're going to be limited by the body-work of the STS. I would think an all season tire would fit the bill (as far as leaving the pavement goes). The Conti's DWS and the Michelin's Pilot Sport A/S come to mind.

    Re: Aggressive Tread Pattern Tires

Lots of snow tires would do the job and there are probably a few brands of m&s suv/ light truck tire that might fit.
My suggestion if you want to play with the big boys, trade the cadillac in on a truck.

I avoid dirt roads in my caddy, let alone taking it off road.

    Re: Aggressive Tread Pattern Tires

If my driving found me off-pavement half the time above the 45th parallel, I don't think the Blizzaks would ever come off my STS4. Other vehicles would fill vacation and true off-road needs. It makes no sense to me to mod an STS to provide the clearances necessary to be in any way serious about off-roading.
