Bose rear shelf subwoofer doesn't work in car but does on bench!

Since I bought the car couple months ago the stock bose subwoofer installed on the rear shelf doesn't work. Recently removed the subwoofer for some testing and got strange results. The two wires connector to the subwoofer has constant 24V power and sometimes fluctuates to 48V when radio/stereo on. Then tested the subwoofer in another car using the cars door 2 speaker wires and it does play music and pumps too. I just don't understand when it has power and works in other car then why doesn't it work in my car!? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The amplifier could be toast. Not sure if it has its own or if it's a part of a multi channel amp. Someone with more knowledge of the system should chime in...Also, is this the base stereo or the 15.1 Studio Surround? My money is on the amp...

The two front door speakers and the sub have an amp mounted to the top of the speaker (for the 15.1 setup at least) the rest of the speakers are powered by an amp in the trunk wall behind / in front of (depending on your point of view) the passenger side tail lamp assembly.

Is your dsp setting on talk or front seat? That will reduce the deck sub output significantly.

No I don't think so the amp is toasted as I still get power at the connector wires when I check with a multi-meter. Its a base stereo, 1 speaker in each door and it looks like 1 speaker on the dash(I see a grille) and the rear shelf sub, that's it.

    Amp is good

There are some folks that repair Bose systems; usually worth the money. New replacements can be spendy.

Dr. Bose is very proud of his designs but has always used inexpensive components to achieve better than expected sound.
