Re: heated steering wheel not working

I asked my dealer for my old 08 wheel back before I had it replaced, they said they can't as they are sent back to GM.
I believe this was a bold faced lie; but what could I really do? Would have been nice to take it apart and figured out the fix so that others that cannot get a new wheel (like most of the 05-07 model cars) might be able to repair it themselves.

Unless a part is sold with a core exchange price, you are entitled to it. How does someone really know they didn't just change a fusable link? But it is fair to tell them beforehand.

I'd want mine. Keep the car long enough and it will fail again. Everything breaks. A lot of us enjoy fixing junk and having a spare <fill in the blank>.

If you paid for the new wheel, you are entitled to the old part by LAW. I would not let this go.

I dont know about that, the Dealer quoted me new wheel for less than online I can safely assume there is a core charge.
anyway, I'll ask them to keep the wheel and see what happen.

Bump for edit to my original post. Didn't feel it was worth creating a new thread for.

glad you got everything (almost) fixed, i noticed that from few of Cadillac dealerships, if they feel they are going to lose a customer they will go the extra mile to get you back.
and "It gets cold (below 50F)" you need to spend some time with us here up north, where anything above 40 is considered a nice day out...

Well the heated wheel failure is likely the module failed and you need to get a new wheel.

The ACC not working will need to see a dealer to pull a code for it but I'd bet it's the same problem mine has had twice now. The multifunction lever (turn signal lever) has failed in mine causing the exact same symptoms you describe with the cruise control. It's the cheapest component of the cruise system to replace so I'd insist on it if the dealer doesn't want to touch it (like mine was).

I don't think you get the car proximity alert in the HUD when the ACC is turned-off at the stalk. I know you don't get the red-flashing & audio alert when it's off. The stalk shouldn't be too spendy, well < $200, not all that long ago on a vaguely similar GM out the door at a dealer.

1 year ago (almost to the day) the stalk for my 2008 ran me $56.60 (for the part) at the cadillac dealer.
Not sure what the labor amount was as there was several items worked on during that visit.
