Question debris flying out of ac vents

past week and a half I have had chunks of grey/black foam flying at me through the ac vents. im assuming its some type of gasket for the doors in side the ducts. anybody else have this happen to them? its a rare thing I haven't heard of too much in a car of this age (8yrs)

    thanks,
    Adrian

Center vents only? How long since the bezel around the HVAC & radio controls has been removed?

Actually yes. Only the driver and pass center vents. I've only had car for 6 weeks. I haven't removed the bezels

Odds are somebody did and wasn't careful when reinstalling it. There's a dark grey foam between the vent louvers on the bezel and the ductwork behind the dash. You probably need to remove & re-install it.

It's a push-fit but the wood trim at the bottom is so narrow it can easily crack. It's a pricey piece, to be sure. I can't remember exactly where the mounting clips are but with some non-marring tools, it's an easy R & R.

Bottom left and right, middle left and right, top left and right. I wrapped a microfiber towel around a prying style trim tool and got it out like that. The middle ones were easy to find for me and for 2008+ because its where the aluminum meets the wood. Either way, those are the locations of the mounting clips.

Im in the central Valley... the foam that flew out didn't really look melted. Im going to have to find time to carefully remove the trim around the vent and radio to make sure all is well.

If you're sitting on the passenger side, there is a horizontal line that separates the top of the dash from the bottom. (It's really one piece) follow that line to the left until you hit the wood that surrounds the center stack. That part of the wood is where the center clips are.
