Use what the oil cap says, Mobil1, IIRC the 3.6L takes 6 quarts...It should say on a sticker somewhere in the engine bay.

See page 2-25. It's the valet lockout switch.

    ----------

Cadillac has been doing this for years. Basically if you have valuables, put them in the trunk, then before you valet your car, turn the valet switch on, close the glove box, and lock it. Then, take the key out of the key fob and give the valet the rest of the remote. Now he has no way of getting in your trunk.

The only way to get in the trunk now is to pull the rear seat center passthrough and try to pull the emergency trunk release which is pretty impossible. This is also why I believe Cadillac never did the rear folding seats, although being able to lock the seats in place with the key you take with you would solve that problem.

    ----------

My 79 coupe Deville has this feature.

    ----------

In the coupe Deville, the button to open the trunk is in the glove compartment. So you lock the glove compartment.

There are two keys, one open and start the car and the other for the glove box and trunk (swivel the Cadillac emblem out of the way to reveal the keyhole) so you just keep the glovebox/trunk key when you valet it.

The pass through has a lock too.

    Re: Oil question - 2008 STS 6

Jim1966, Your oil question and answers have been moved to your own thread. Please don't hijack a fairly active thread - it makes advice and info for the thread's Original Poster (OP) difficult to track. Thanks.

The oil type recommendations and valet switch information are in the owner's manual. When all else fails .................
